Are You Listening?

Good Evening to All!

Before I get started on the "meat of the matter", I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Mimi of Mimi Loves All Eight. I won her give-away for the "Rust" DVD. I finally got to watch it tonight (I received it day before yesterday.) It definitely had a good message.

Now the LORD cam and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your Servant hears." (1 Samuel 3:10)

This verse comes from the story when the LORD called out to Samuel several times, but Samuel thought it was Eli. After a couple of times of getting up and going to Eli, Eli finally realized what was going on and told Samuel to address the LORD and tell Him "Speak for your servant heareth.

I wonder how many of us do that today. We may not hear an audible voice, but we do hear a voice in our spirits. I'm not saying He doesn't speak audibly to some people. I have heard of it happening, but I have never experienced it. I do hear Him speak to my spirit however. This is so important. We mustn't second guess it. If we feel the "nudge' of God in our spirit, we must act. Anything less is disobedience. Doubt is not of God. We must know, if we feel the need to do something good in our spirit, it is God telling us to do so. If you hear something you are not sure of, look it up in the Bible. If it does not line up with the Word of God, then it is not from Him. The more you do this, the more in-tune you will be with God's voice. Pretty soon, there will be no doubt and you will be able to know automatically when it's God's voice, your voice or the voice of Satan.

God has wonderful plans for each of our lives. To learn these plans we must learn to listen for His voice. that is the only way we will learn of these plans. It is the choice of each of us whether we listen or not. No one can do it for you any more than someone can read the Bible for you and you get what you need from it. We must each develop our own relationship with God. No one can force Him on any one else. It must be the individual's choice. God wants you to choose His will , to get to know Him, and to have that intimate relationship with Him, and He will do everything He can to encourage you to want it too.

God wants you to know what He wants you to do, what He wants for you. He wants you to know what His plans are for you. Proverbs 2:7 says "Be not wise in your own eyes." In other words we shouldn't even try to run our own lives without His help. As soon as we try this, we will fail. God knows what is best for us. He knows our beginning and our future, and He knows what we need in our life every moment of every day. We need God's direction in every aspect of our lives. When you realize that it is His voice you are hearing in your spirit, the more confidence you will have in it, and the better you will be able to receive His guidance and instruction.

Be open to His voice. When you pray, stop and listen. He will talk to your spirit. Give Him a chance. Don't just pray a quick prayer, then get up and go about your business. Be sincere in seeking Him and He will tell you of His plan s for your life and teach you everything you need to know. But, YOU MUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE AND LISTEN.

PJ,

You are very correct about the need to listen closely for the voice of the Lord. For me, normally, He speaks to me as I dwell on His Word and pray.

May the Lord continue to bless you. Thanks for your recent comments on my blog.
