GOD SPEAKS TO THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM

Good Evening to All!

O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and supplication]. Psalm 95:6

In reference to the above verse, we must remember to be sincere in our Praise and Worship. We must be sure that our praise, worship and supplication (humble prayer) is with total sincerity and love or it will all be in vain.

I believe that worship creates an atmosphere in which God can speak to us. To worship God is to focus completely upon Him, and turning our COMPLETE attention upon Him. By doing this God realizes that we are serious about wanting to hear His voice within us.

He does not scream our names to get our attention. The Holy Spirit nudges us, and uses His "still small voice within us to get our attention. When we worship Him we completely block out all the distractions and concentrate on our God. Our worship of our wonderful Heavenly Father should be ALL ABOUT HIM and NOT what He can do or has done for us.

Yes, we should always be thankful to Him for all He has done and Will do for us, but 0ur worship should not "hinge" on this. It should be about Not Who we are, or what He 's done, but WHO HE IS.

We don't show love to our earthly parents because of what they do for us, we show them love because they are our parents. The same should be done for God.

So many people have the wrong idea about what worship is. Too many think that worship is all about singing songs to God. In reality singing songs is what I would consider a "result" of worship.

Psalm 100 says to Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. We at our church always BEGIN our services with songs and praise for God. It is like we are "ushering Him in" and welcoming Him for being there. His Word says He inhabits our praises, so we sing and praise Him first thing.

This helps to put us all in "one mind and one accord" thus creating an atmosphere of worship. If anyone leaves the service feeling like they didn't "receive anything from it" it is because they didn't want to. A person will get out of a service what they put into it. If they will open their heart and worship God the way He deserves to be worshiped, they will receive abundant blessings.

Worship is a condition of the heart. If a person will open their heart to God, He will enter and bless them with a love and a peace like they have never felt before, but on the other side of the coin, if they make up their mind they want no part, then God won't push Himself on them and they will miss out on a WONDERFUL blessing.

I like to say that praise and worship go together. You definitely can have one without the other, but as for my own experience they have always gone together. Maybe it is because I am a demonstrative person. I have always believed in showing my emotions and affections. Therefore, because the Bible speaks about how David danced before the Lord, and how we are to praise Him with different instruments and cymbals, lifting and clapping of hands and so forth, I figure it's good enough for us to do also. Therefore, I always worship and praise at the same time. My worship always "causes me to praise Him". I start out talking to Him and telling Him how wonderful He is and how much I love Him, and before I know it I'm singing at the top of my lungs even when I'm driving in my car!

I have gotten many a strange look and lots of "waves" from people thinking I'm waving at them when I'm actually lifting my hand to God in praise! LOL!

We each have our own way of worshiping and praising God. What might be right for me might not be right for someone else. Just because I am a demonstrative person doesn't mean all people are. There are even some Pentecostal people who are reserved and that don't leap, dance or do anything but stand with their head bowed, or lifted up. Some might lift their hands to their shoulder height, and others might lift their hands above their heads. Then there might be people who are even more active than myself with the Holy Ghost leading them to "run the aisles" or skip. We all are led to worship in a different way, but we need to follow the leading and worship God in whatever way we are nudged to do so. GOD DESERVES TO BE WORSHIPED AND PRAISED.

Good night to All and May God Bless!

PJ,

I have to catch myself not thinking of worship as a set of outward actions (example: praying, singing, attending church)

Just as you say worship is truly an attitude (condition) of the heart.

Our word "worship" comes from an Old English word "worthship". In other words, true worship is recognizing our Lord's "worth".

(Example: His greatness, His sovereignty, His grace, His mercy; and then realizing what we owe Him because He is who He is.)

Because He loves us... He is worth our love in return. Because He has authority over all things ... He is worth our service. Because of His promises to us... He is worth our trust.

The list is never ending.

Thanks for reminding me of all this. Great posting
