"RENEW YOUR MIND"

Good Evening to All!

Be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind...so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God , even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. (Romans 12:2)

Now, because of the title of this devotional, that I was inspired for this post by, they did not give the "whole picture". Let me back up and Let you see and understand which direction I am taking this as it is in a completely different direction from the devotional which I read. The verse before the one above says ¹I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:23-25) I probably know what you are thinking. What do these three verses have in correlation to each other? To begin with, I know that in this verse mammon means "wealth", especially in opposition to God. Riches and worldly goods.

It is impossible to keep one foot on a "worldly plane", and the other on a "spiritual plane". You either follow the flesh (worldly) or the Spirit (the things of God).

I know I'm taking the long way around this subject, but what I am trying to say is that according to Romans 12:1-2, we are suppose to "submit ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. We cannot do this if our mind isn't renewed. Just as the lamb was to be unblemished so are our lives. The thing is though it is impossible for us to do this on our own. We Have to have God's help.

Therefore, by "renewing our mind" and setting our sites on the things that will make the Lord happy, He will help us get through these changes and be successful at them. We must keep in our minds at all times though that we are spiritual beings and for our lives to be "acceptable to God we must follow after the Spirit and not the flesh.

Yes, we are inevitably going to fall, we are human. The key is to get back up, repent, and run toward God for forgiveness.

Keep telling yourself "I am a child of God". Would He accept these actions from me if He were here on earth facing me?.

I can't help but think that some or even a lot of us have an "out of sight, out of mind" attitude about God. Yes, we know He exists, but because He isn't down here on this earth facing us like our earthly dads, we take Him lightly. It's not like He can take our car keys away from us, or ground us for a month like our dads used to do. So what can He do in the way of "consequences?"

Personally, I don't want to find out. I love the Lord and I want Him to be proud of me. Therefore I will do my best to live according to His standards for me, and live the way God wants me to as well as presenting my body as a living sacrifice to Him.

No, I'm not off track. LOL! I'm still thinking about the renewing of the mind. None of what I have talked about is possible without a renewing of our minds. God created us and gave us free will and the ability to make choices. We have to make the choice of which to follow, the flesh or the Spirit, and then we have to make the conscious choice to change, to renew our thinking.

The "prince of this world" (Satan) is doing everything in his power to entice us into making the wrong choices. After all, his time is running out and he wants to take as many of us with him as possible. DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN. He will catch you when you are most vulnerable, he will get you when you are at your weakest. He is a coward.

Let's all take an inventory of our lives and our minds. Let's renew our minds and get rid of the things that hinder our walk with God and get our priorities straight.
