Good Evening to All!

I was reading my devotional a while ago, and it struck me hard. How many times have I heard people say this practice from the Old Testament is no longer valid since Christ came, or that was only in Biblical times it's not for us today. I get so discouraged in the human race, I get so frustrated! When people say that, it's obvious that they are missing something. Either they just "skimmed" over the Bible, picked and chose what they wanted to believe or God Forbid, left it to their own interpretation.

Lets talk about the last idea first, private interpretation. The way to know that it's God's interpretation and NOT your own is to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to open your understanding so that God's will will be done. The more you do this, it will become natural to you to pray before you read and you will have NO DOUBT that what you feel in your spirit is God's truth.

2 Peter 1:20-21 says, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Message Bible states it like this: We couldn't be more sure of what we saw and heard—God's glory, God's voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You'll do well to keep focusing on it. It's the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it's not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God's Word.
(2 Peter 1:19-21)

The next idea is the fact that something isn't for us today like it was in Biblical times. According to Hebrews 13:8, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word is settled in heaven. (Psalm 119:89)

God said the promises He made were for the people back then and for generations "afar off", meaning descendants. We are descendants.

Don't let anyone tell you that God's promises are not for us today. We are joint heirs of Christ in the kingdom of God, so the promises hold true for us, IF we LIVE for and LOVE God.

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

(I'm practicing at making posts, instead of trying to write a novel per night! LOL!)

PJ,

Im glad you brought up about how many of God's OT promises apply to all believers both in OT and NT. Paul describes believers as Israel in Roms 2:28-29 and also Galatians 6:16 and many others. So in many cases, the promises God gave in the OT to "Israel" (his people) apply to us today.

By the way, I have answered your latest postings on my blog. If you get a chance check them out. I think your postings were a blessing to many wives that are reading it.

Thank you,
Rob
