Good Evening to All!
(2) For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death. (3) For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice], (4) So that the righteous and just requirement of the Law might be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit]. (5) For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit. (6) Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]. (Romans 8:2-6 Amp. ver.)
This particular passage of scripture helps us to understand the consequences of what rules our lives. If we have an "all about me" attitude, keeping up with the Jones', or just plain I have to have the best of everything attitude, we are going to be miserable. We will be so worried that someone will upstage us, or get something newer or better than what we have we will constantly be striving for more and forget to enjoy what we do have. This is definitely not peace.
Not only that, but peace can seem unattainable when we are constantly worried about how we are going to pay the bills, or come up with the money for everything we have bought, that we thought we just had to have. How many times have you gone to the store and bought a new pair of shoes or outfit, only to get them home and have buyers remorse after thinking about it for a few hours? How many times have you reacted to that buyers remorse and returned the item so it would be one less worry of how to pay for it? I must say I picked this picture to the right because of the caption that was underneath. It said, "Peace is a state of mind and stillness of the heart."
Real peace that lasts comes from accepting the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It keeps us focused on what is really important. It keeps our mind on God and an eternity with Him, as well as what it is going to take to get there. It helps us realize that the things of this earth are not nearly as important as we make them out to be in our minds. If we are truly in love with God, then we will stay focused on the things of God such as being loving, kind, and patient. This is what will ultimately bring us the freedom in our minds that is peace.
Now for the moment we've ALL Been Waiting For! At least those who entered the give-away!
There were only 7 entries, so let's see who the lucky person is!
I have been trying to put the Random Generator in this post for 2 hours with no luck. I got it in, but I couldn't get it to generate, so I deleted it and just did it from their website. The Lucky Number is 1 and the person's name next to that comment number is "The Zany Housewife"! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Please send me an e-mail with your shipping address so that I can e-mail it to the Publishing House.
