Further Benefits of Wisdom

Daily Inspirations from the NIV

She [Wisdom] is a tree of life to those who embrace her;
those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
By wisdom the Lord laid the earth's foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
by his knowledge the deeps were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.

My son, preserve sound judgement and discernment,
do not let them out of your sight;
they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble;
when you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Proverbs 3:18-24

KJV states it this way: She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: ; and happy is every one that retaineth her.
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to they neck.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and they sleep shall be sweet.

According to the reference section of my New King James Version, The most common use of chokmah (Hebrew) or "wisdom" is in reference to daily living . This is the sense of the word as it is used throughout Proverbs, which teaches that true wisdom involves not only intelligence, but also moral integrity (8:7-9). Because a sinful lifestyle is ultimately self-destructive, wisdom is extolled as the only path to a full and fruitful life( 3:13-26). The source of wisdom is God, who by wisdom, founded the earth, numbered the clouds, and made the world. He alone can provide men and women with the wisdom to live righteously.

I may be mistaken, but what this says to me is that God holds wisdom in high esteem. He considers wisdom to be a mixture of intellect and "common sense". All of one or the other does not constitute "wisdom". There has to be a blend of the two for a person to be considered "wise" in God's eyes.

What are your thoughts about this subject?

Good Night to All and May God Bless!
