"AN OVERCOMER'S PROVERB"

Good Evening to All

Proverbs 2:7-8 (NRSV New Revised Standard Version)  He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;  he is a shield to those who walk blamelessly,  (8)  guarding the paths of justice and preserving the way of his faithful ones.

A teenage girl found herself continually tempted by her friends to do things she knew she shouldn't. Once s
he was offered drugs, occasionally she was offered alcohol, often she was approached by boys who tried to take advantage of her. Her constant reply was that she was a Christian. Usually, she was made fun of for her faith. One time, however, a friend asked her why her faith made such a difference.

The girl replied, "I really want to do what God asks me to. When I do what He wants, I feel better about myself. When I do wrong, I feel terrible. I'd rather feel good inside and have people make fun of me, than feel lousy and give into temptation."

Ref: Wisdom from the Proverbs 365 Days of Wisdom and Encouragement by Dan and Nancy Dick.

To this I said Hurrah! I can't help but feel that if the "all knowing" (or so they think) politicians who took Prayer and God out of school, would have shown some common sense, instead of worrying about what all of the unbelievers, atheists, and whatever other groups who are trying to force their beliefs on Christians, the children, teens and young adults of today would not have NEAR all of the mental problems they have meaning suicide or homicidal mania (for lack of a better word), drugs, or even alcohol.

I must say I commend any young person who has the faith in God to get them through these trouble times.  I know it's not easy, but like the young lady in the story, if we (of all ages) will just read and study Proverbs and abide by it, our complicated lives would be much easier to handle, because God would be in control.  All we have to do is what He says, and we WILL OVERCOME and temptations.

The kids need HIM in school more today than ever before. If He was still included in school, I'm sure there would still be peer pressure, because that is a fact of life, but not for the same things. I don't think there would be near as much bullying, because even if a person (child or adult alike) doesn't go to church, if they hear scriptures or a prayer everyday, something will stick.

I think that the reason the non-Christian parents don't want their children to hear the word of God, is because the child would come home and ask questions that the parents probably couldn't answer, but e, why would it be so hard for them to say "we don't believe that way? Why penalize Christians? I don't think they are trying to keep God out of school for the children's "benefit", I think it's for their own.

I didn't mean to get on my soap box. This started out about the Proverb saying that as long as we include God in our daily lives ( our actions) at school or anywhere else, we can overcome any temptation and we can withstand anything.

 I have never really delved into a Commentary before tonight. I've glanced at them, or read a piece here and there, but never really looked at it for what it truly is.

Commentary: Asbury Commentary for Proverb 2:7-8

Solomon encourages the "Student" in different versions he urges (4) (my son, my child, and my good friend) to pursue after wisdom as diligently as those who seek silver or hidden treasure. (vv. 7-8) The first result of such an endeavor is understanding the fear (reverence) of the Lord. By pursuing the principles by which God ordered creation, one gains his help in life and is assured of victory.

Now the Reformation Study Bible was short and to the point. All it said about this passage was:
Proverbs 2:7 The character of God, which the wise come to know (v. 5), is the basis of morality. Standards of integrity and righteousness are expressions of wisdom.

2:8 his saints. These are people who show that they possess the fear of the Lord by imitating His covenant love.

What this is saying to me is that if we are "TRUE" Christians, we will carry God in our hearts at all times. We will be clothed in Him. Our actions will allow Christ to shine through us. We know we can overcome all of the temptations that come against us. Don't get me wrong, I know we will fall, as Adam and Eve made sure of that, but by the Love of God, He made sure that we could repent. At least when we fall, we can fall toward to Him so He can catch us.    This why we can overcome, why we can say "no" to temptation. With Him being for us, who can be against us?

This Proverb gives us encouragement to know that as long as we have the wisdom that He is with us giving us strength, we can beat anything.

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

"PROVERBS" A CALL TO HEED WISDOM"

Good Morning To All!

Warning Against Rejecting Wisdom

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets.  (21)Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:  She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, (22)How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?  (23) Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.  Proverbs 1:20-23
The Amplified Bible states it like this:  Wisdom cries aloud in the street; she raises her voice in the markets; (21) She cries at the head of the noisy intersections [in the chief gathering places]; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks;  (22) How long O simple ones  [open to evil] , will you love being simple?  And the scoffers delight in scoffing and [self confident] fools hate knowledge?
(23)  If you will turn (repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I [Wisdom] will pour out my spirit upon you.  I will make my words known to you .

The first words in the Devotional were "It's not easy being a Christian".   When I read this, my mind started going in a million different directions.  There are so many ways to look at this.  First of all, my thoughts returned to a quote that my Wise and learned Pastor has told us more than once.  He said, " If you live for God easy it is hard, but if you live for God hard, it is easy.  In other words if you will put your whole heart into loving and living for God, it will be easy to do what He expects of you and to obey Him.  If a person tries to live for God on their own terms, picking and choosing what they want to obey and not, then it will be hard.

The only way we will ever be able to learn God's true meaning of love is through the study of His Word, and obeying His commands.  After all, that is what Jesus said.  "If you love me, obey my commands".

We have to remember that the closer we are to God and the deeper our relationship is to Him, the easier it will be to live according to His wishes.  This ultimately will be the ONLY way we will enter into heaven.

Of course, this is not the only responsibility of a Christian.  We have others, such as spreading the gospel of Christ, which in a sense is another way of showing love to our fellow man, by making sure that we let as many people know about Jesus and the Kingdom of God as possible.

I read a post the other day by a Pastor who was talking about being careful about who you listen to about the Word of God because of there being so many false prophets and deceivers out there.  That is why I always try to point out that while I feel that it is the duty of a Christian to spread the Gospel just as Jesus told His disciples to do, I would so impress those who read my blog and hear my words of witness, that they will prove me and read their Bibles for themselves as well.

If you are interested in a Wonderful Bible Study of Proverbs, I urge you to check out "Settled in Heaven" by Rob Barkman.  I thoroughly enjoy all of his Bible Studies. Another aspect I like is that if I don't feel like reading a lot, I can watch him on YouTube.  While we are of different doctrines, I still am able to read his studies, listen to him on YouTube and glean a lot from him.  I highly recommend his blog.

The Answers to last Sunday's Quiz are as follows:  let me apologize for taking so long to get them posted.  We have been having problems with our Internet so I have been unable to post until now.

1.  c--The lost sheep of Israel
2.  a--None
3.  d--All things are possible if you have clean hands and a pure heart.
4.  a--Even though he performed miracles there, they did not repent.
5.  b--To destruction
6.  a--To life
7.  c--By their "fruit," the way they act.

Well, I guess I had better not push my luck.  It seems as though our Internet decides to go down on a frequent basis here at the camp around this time, so I had better finish this up before I lose it.

 Have a Wonderful day, and May God Bless!

WHAT ARE THREE WAYS TO OBTAIN WISDOM FROM GOD?
PRAYER

We need to pray and obey God's leading when He speaks to us. Obedience is not to be an occasional event for us; it is to be our way of life. There's a big difference between people who are willing to obey God daily and those who are willing to obey only to get out of trouble. God certainly shows people how to get out of trouble, but He bestows abundant blessings on those who decide to live wholeheartedly for Him and who make obedience to Him their lifestyle. The only pathway to true peace is obedience to God.

Many people obey God in the big issues, but they aren't' aware that obedience in the little things makes a difference in His plan for their lives. The Bible says plainly that if we are not faithful in the little things, we will never be made rulers over much (see Luke 19:17). There is no reason for God to trust us with a major responsibility if we are not going to be faithful to do the little things He has asked us to do.
THE HOLY GHOST will guide us into ALL truth

I did some more scripture searching on these verses. At first, I thought it was talking about the verse, "because you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.
This is Matthew 25:21. Although they are different verses, they are along the same concept in "my perception. If God cannot trust "His children" to be faithful in a few, or the small things which He asks, how can He be sure that we will come through when it comes to the big tasks or when many things are thrown at us. This is one way I figure the devil catches us off guard. he throws a bunch of obstacles our way and waits to see if we fail to remember what "is written" in God's Word, (as Jesus replied to him when He was tempted in the wilderness). If we know God's Word, and we are faithful to God by abiding by His commandments, then He will reward us, by giving us more wisdom.
GOD'S WORD IS PURE WISDOM

But as I researched Luke 19:17, it lead me to 1 Corinthians 6:2, Which says; Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Then this lead me to Revelations 321; To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (Rev. 5:10,; 11:12).

I strongly urge you to be obedient to God even in the smallest of things. A sixteenth-century monk called Brother Lawrence was well known for walking continually in the presence of God. He said that he was pleased to pick up a piece of straw from the ground in obedience to God and because he loved Him.

In the verse for tonight, God says He will make known His words to us if we listen to Him when He corrects us. If we follow His guidance and are pleased to do each little thing He asks of us, then He will open His wisdom to us, and we will have more revelation than we could ever imagine.

God's Word for You Tonight: If you are faithful in little things, God will make you ruler over greater things.

Good night to All and May God Bless!

******************************************************
Today's Seed: "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole [duty] of man."
Ecclesiastes 12:13

Have you noticed that not much is simple anymore?

Thanks to the computer and the computer chip, everything must be programmed in order to get it to work. You have to program the microwave (being careful not to change the time display) to just the right number of minutes so most of the kernels in the can't-see-through bag, pop. You cant watch television without knowing how to program your VCR, And if you have cable or satellite, you have five hundred or more channels to search through. ( I can tell how long ago this devotional book was written, now we have DVD players, and TIVOs which have to be programmed (which is my hubby's job as I am definitely not mechanically inclined). Then there are the computer chips in the new cars that do everything from locking the doors to giving you mile-by-mile directions to your destination. You can't even talk on the phone without listening to a series of options and punching several numbers on the Touch-Tone keypad. (I love computers to type on, but I can't stand it when I have to put up with them on the telephone. I was on a call the other day which had a computer, and I actually yelled at it! (Not that it did any good, but it made me feel better. It did however get the attention of a "human representative".

One thing in life is Not complicated. Ironically, it's the thing about which many people experience stress. The uncomplicated thing is this: What does God expect from me? Solomon figured it out years ago. He wrote, "Fear God and Keep His commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man." It's simple.

When your friends are harried because of the complications in life, encourage them to take a look at what really matters. The simple news is that God loves them. He longs for their love and wants them to have a heart that desires to obey his commandments.

Interesting Fact: The word used for "commandments" can be translated to describe God's laws, ordinances, and precepts. In other words, when speaking of God's commandments, more than the famous ten are included. Everything that pertains to us in God's Word from Genesis to Revelation is meant to be obeyed.

Ok, I want to take a little time out of this Devotional to say something special. Before I started this post, I was sitting at my computer and I prayed for God to "have His way with this post, as I feel that this is His blog. I'm just the instrument. Anyway, a short time ago, in another post, I mentioned that God's commandments included more than the Ten Commandments which we all hold near and dear to our hearts and have memorized and explained that God Never "requested" anything in the Bible. He just tells us to do it, as well as He told the people back in Biblical times. What I am wanting you to see is that I did not go search for something to type. After praying, I pulled this little book out, opened it up and this post was what appeared in front of me. I think God is trying to get "HIS point across. That we are not just to concentrate on the Ten Commandments, but to READ HIS WORD and understand what He wants us to do with our lives and How He wants us to live them. I can't help but feel that if more of us would do that, this world would be a better place.

I know that we are in the "latter days" and it has been prophesied on how people are going to act, the down-grade of society because of immorality, and looseness, immodesty, disrespect, and the non-chalant and overly accepting attitudes of people, but we must remember that GOD IS IN CONTROL and our prayers will make a difference.

I know this for a fact. As an example, let me tell you about a newborn babe born a few days ago. She is the great-granddaughter of some good friends of ours. Our friend called and told my husband that the baby had been born, and was ok or so they thought. Shortly after, she went into distress and they started running tests and taking x-rays. The doctors came to the conclusion that she had a hole in her heart, so they rushed her to Dallas. As soon as my hubby got off the phone with our friend, I called my friend from church in charge of our one-call and got the prayer-team into action. We started praying for this little baby. When they got her there and ran more test, they found that she DID NOT have a hole in her heart after all. The specialist in Dallas couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with the baby girl and sent her home. NO one can tell me that prayers don't work.

Contemplations:

What is complicated in your life right now?

How can the message of this seed (love God and keep His commandments) speak to your complicated situation?

Personal Prayer: Lord, help me feel your love and apply your Word to my complicated life, especially when (Insert your own needs).

A Little Bit of Wisdom: "Our life is frittered away by detail... Simplify, simplify." Henry David Thoreau in Where I lived, and What I Lived For

*******************************************************
Inspirations From the NIV

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are you ways my ways,"
declares the LORD,
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it
without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:8-11

As I have said many times before I prefer the King James Version:

(8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

(9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thought than your thoughts.

(10) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth now thither, but watereth the earth and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

(11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

I love this verse. For some reason it gives me comfort. When I start worrying about things, I read this scripture and remember that just because I don't understand why things are happening, that God's way of thinking and my way of thinking are TOTALLY different, and if I'm going to rely on someone's logic and reasoning, it better be God's because I make mistakes, God doesn't.

I chose this passage, because I look around and see that our world is flooded with disease and death. Yes, I have questioned my God about it. The above scripture is what he has shown me each time I called on Him. I know in our carnal world, it is hard to accept this verse and go on, but we must all remember that God has no beginning and no end. He is omniscient which tells me He knows all He is omnipresent which means is everywhere, so He sees all ...past, present, and future. Therefore, He knows what is best for all of us, because He knows the outcome of everything we do, and everything that happens to us. I cannot bring myself to believe that a loving God would just allow bad things to happen for no reason to His creation. He has reasons for allowing things to happen. There are several ways to look at this. One is that God caused it. That is untrue. God does not cause people to be sick. He is a loving, healing God. A second way is that Satan caused it, and God wasn't strong enough to keep him from it. That is untrue also. God is much more powerful than Satan in EVERY WAY. Even Satan trembles at the mention of God's name. The other explanation is that God has His reasons for allowing "life" to go on. Bad things happen in "life" sometimes. I saw a movie a long time ago in which a statement was made God created good AND evil. He had to create both because a person wouldn't be able to appreciate the "good" if bad things never happened and vice-versa. Well, I've rambled on enough. I hope you enjoyed my post. See you tomorrow.

Good night to all and May God Bless!

Prayer for Wisdom and Revelation

St. Paul by Lorenzo <span class=Image by mharrsch via Flickr

Good Evening to All!

Did you know that Ephesus is in Turkey?

This passage was written by Paul to the Church of Ephesus.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:17-23

We all need to pray for wisdom and revelation so that we can get to know God better. There is NO WAY humanly possible to get to know Him just by "reading". God is a Spiritual being, therefore, we must get to know Him in Spirit. The ONLY way to do that is through prayer, then reading of His Holy Word. As He is Holy, so is His Word. Hence the reason people have come to me and said I don't read the Bible because I don't understand it. My first question to them is," have you prayed for the ability to understand before you read"? Nine times out of ten, they say no. Without prayer, the Bible is Just A Book, With prayer of understanding, it opens up a whole new experience. Living, breathing words that come to life. I guarantee if you will try it, you will see a big difference in the way you see the Bible. The Holy Spirit will open this new world to you and you will get a deeper meaning of the same scripture every time you read, IF YOU PRAY BEFORE HAND FOR understanding. A light bulb will click on where you might have read many times before, but didn't understand . I know because it happened to me. I used to read and read trying to understand what the Bible was "trying to say to me", but without praying. It was like one of those books that no matter how hard you tried it was impossible to get interested in. Finally, I got exasperated and just said, "ok God, I give up. I have "tried to be a good Christian and read the Bible, but I flat just don't understand it. It sounds like a bunch of "words" to me. Please! If you want me to read, Help me understand it. So I won't feel like I'm wasting my time. Guess What! I started reading, and I felt the words go right to my heart. I actually understood what was being said! Try it and see ! You won't be sorry!

Good Night and May God Bless!

Further Benefits of Wisdom

my tree at duskImage by joiseyshowaa via Flickr

Daily Inspirations from the NIV

She [Wisdom] is a tree of life to those who embrace her;
those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
By wisdom the Lord laid the earth's foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
by his knowledge the deeps were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.

My son, preserve sound judgement and discernment,
do not let them out of your sight;
they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble;
when you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Proverbs 3:18-24

KJV states it this way: She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: ; and happy is every one that retaineth her.
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to they neck.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and they sleep shall be sweet.

According to the reference section of my New King James Version, The most common use of chokmah (Hebrew) or "wisdom" is in reference to daily living . This is the sense of the word as it is used throughout Proverbs, which teaches that true wisdom involves not only intelligence, but also moral integrity (8:7-9). Because a sinful lifestyle is ultimately self-destructive, wisdom is extolled as the only path to a full and fruitful life( 3:13-26). The source of wisdom is God, who by wisdom, founded the earth, numbered the clouds, and made the world. He alone can provide men and women with the wisdom to live righteously.

I may be mistaken, but what this says to me is that God holds wisdom in high esteem. He considers wisdom to be a mixture of intellect and "common sense". All of one or the other does not constitute "wisdom". There has to be a blend of the two for a person to be considered "wise" in God's eyes.

What are your thoughts about this subject?

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

Daily Inspirations from the NIV

SunriseImage by Windsors Child via Flickr

Good Evening to All!

I chose this picture to go along with this first verse because when is there a better time to be in solitude with God but in the quietness and the beauty of sunrise. To be able to hear God's "still small voice" whispering words of wisdom"?

Verses for Long Life
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom,
the man who gains understanding,
for she is more profitable than silver,
and yields better returns than gold.
She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.

Proverbs 3:13-17

King James Version

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom,
and the man that getteth understanding.
for the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver,
and the gain thereof than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies:
and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
Length of days is in her right hand,
and in her left hand , riches and honour.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.

To me, this verse on the surface means that it is more important to have Wisdom than precious jewels or money. Do not mistake knowledge for wisdom. Anyone can have knowledge. All they have to do is open a book and/or go to school. Wisdom on the other hand to me is acquired through different means. You get wisdom first and foremost by reading God's Word and praying that He will give you wisdom. Also, through experience, be it good experiences or bad. I have known people with an over-abundance of "book-smarts, but when it came to common sense or "life's wisdom" as I like to call it, they had none.

WISDOM is the Most Important thing a person could ever ask for. Look at King Solomon. He asked God to give him the wisdom to rule his people and look how he prospered. Of course, after a while he forgot and got greedy, then went crazy.

I know the Bible says that God wants us to prosper. I also believe that even though everyone likes to think He means money-wise, I think He wants us to prosper spiritually first, then the other will come. I'm not saying that He wants us all to stay poor, just that He wants our priorities to be in line with His first, and He doesn't need money. Not only that, but His Word says, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. He Doesn't Lie.

********************************************* *********************************************
Do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you prosperity.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
'in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:1-6

King James Version
My son, forget not my law;
but let thine heart keep my commandments:
For length of days, and long life, and peace,
shall they add to thee.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:
bind them about thy neck;
write them on the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding
in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him
and he shall direct thy paths.

What this verse puts on my heart is that God wants us to love Him, live for Him, keep his commandments ). God has many more commands as well as the "Ten Commandments". I can't help but believe that people are misguided if they succumb to the idea "I follow the Ten Commandments, I don't kill, or steal, or commit adultery, so I'm gonna go to heaven. Please search out your Bible. There is so much more to it than that. He gives us a lot of "commands" which He wants us to follow that don't necessarily sound like they would be a "heaven or hades" issue, but the idea of knowing that God wants us to do something and not doing it is the same as disobeying and disobedience is a sin. I will leave that thought. Also, when you love someone, such as your parents or your spouse, don't you try and make them happy in any way possible? You wouldn't deliberately hurt them by not doing as they ask, I'm sure. That's what I think God feels. He gave His life for us and if we can't do a little thing like love Him
and do what He asks, why should we be allowed to enter into His kingdom and live with Him for eternity? Can you imagine living with some one who was indifferent to you, or did the opposite that would make you happy for eternity? I wouldn't want to be in that household.

God wants us to lean on Him, depend on Him, ask Him for His advice. If we would do that everything would turn out so much better. He knows our past, present, and future. Therefore He knows what is best for us at any given time better than we do ourselves. Give Him ALL the Glory and Honor, for we are NOTHING without Him. We should ALWAYS remember that.

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

A Little bit Wisdom-A Little Bit Praise

Good Evening to All!

Tonight, wrestled with myself on what to post, then I went and looked at my e-mails on one site, the wrestled some more, then looked at my e-mails on another site, the looked through some of my books, the wrestled some more. I finally took out my little "Daily Inspiration from the NIV, opened it up, and there were two pages right there together that caught my eye, and "tickled my fancy". Truth be known, although I know the majority of people find Psalms to be their favorite book of the Bible, I prefer "instructional books" such as Proverbs, Isaiah, or Acts. I know that praise is important to God, and I do praise Him. I praise Him with my lips, my heart, my hands, with every part of my being. I don't need to read the Psalms to know how to praise Him. If I, myself need lifting up, I pray, or sing praises to Him and that makes my heart sing. As for reading, as in any regular book, I prefer instructional, how to, self help ( God's help in this case).
This is why these two scriptures caught my eye.

A Little Bit Wisdom

If you accept my words,
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver,
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD,
and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and
understanding.

Proverbs 2:1-6

As I have said several times in the past, although there are different versions written to simplify the context or literary aspect of the Bible. My favorite is and shall remain the King James Version. It is one of the most beautiful "languages or dialects" I have ever heard. Therefore, if you will indulge me, I will rewrite these verses in KJV. Thank You.

Proverbs 2: 1-6 King James Version

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

A Little Bit Praise

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea into jars;
he puts the deep into storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the LORD;
let all the people of the world revere him.
For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm....
The plans of the LORD stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all
generations.

Psalm 33: 6-9, 11

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: He
layeth up the depth in storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the
world stand in awe of him.
For he spake and it was done; he commanded and it stood fast.
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of
his heart to all generations.

Psalm 33:6-9, 11 - King James Version

I hope everyone has enjoyed this little bit of insight.
May God Bless and Keep you !

Good Night All!
