Today's Seed: "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole [duty] of man."
Ecclesiastes 12:13

Have you noticed that not much is simple anymore?

Thanks to the computer and the computer chip, everything must be programmed in order to get it to work. You have to program the microwave (being careful not to change the time display) to just the right number of minutes so most of the kernels in the can't-see-through bag, pop. You cant watch television without knowing how to program your VCR, And if you have cable or satellite, you have five hundred or more channels to search through. ( I can tell how long ago this devotional book was written, now we have DVD players, and TIVOs which have to be programmed (which is my hubby's job as I am definitely not mechanically inclined). Then there are the computer chips in the new cars that do everything from locking the doors to giving you mile-by-mile directions to your destination. You can't even talk on the phone without listening to a series of options and punching several numbers on the Touch-Tone keypad. (I love computers to type on, but I can't stand it when I have to put up with them on the telephone. I was on a call the other day which had a computer, and I actually yelled at it! (Not that it did any good, but it made me feel better. It did however get the attention of a "human representative".

One thing in life is Not complicated. Ironically, it's the thing about which many people experience stress. The uncomplicated thing is this: What does God expect from me? Solomon figured it out years ago. He wrote, "Fear God and Keep His commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man." It's simple.

When your friends are harried because of the complications in life, encourage them to take a look at what really matters. The simple news is that God loves them. He longs for their love and wants them to have a heart that desires to obey his commandments.

Interesting Fact: The word used for "commandments" can be translated to describe God's laws, ordinances, and precepts. In other words, when speaking of God's commandments, more than the famous ten are included. Everything that pertains to us in God's Word from Genesis to Revelation is meant to be obeyed.

Ok, I want to take a little time out of this Devotional to say something special. Before I started this post, I was sitting at my computer and I prayed for God to "have His way with this post, as I feel that this is His blog. I'm just the instrument. Anyway, a short time ago, in another post, I mentioned that God's commandments included more than the Ten Commandments which we all hold near and dear to our hearts and have memorized and explained that God Never "requested" anything in the Bible. He just tells us to do it, as well as He told the people back in Biblical times. What I am wanting you to see is that I did not go search for something to type. After praying, I pulled this little book out, opened it up and this post was what appeared in front of me. I think God is trying to get "HIS point across. That we are not just to concentrate on the Ten Commandments, but to READ HIS WORD and understand what He wants us to do with our lives and How He wants us to live them. I can't help but feel that if more of us would do that, this world would be a better place.

I know that we are in the "latter days" and it has been prophesied on how people are going to act, the down-grade of society because of immorality, and looseness, immodesty, disrespect, and the non-chalant and overly accepting attitudes of people, but we must remember that GOD IS IN CONTROL and our prayers will make a difference.

I know this for a fact. As an example, let me tell you about a newborn babe born a few days ago. She is the great-granddaughter of some good friends of ours. Our friend called and told my husband that the baby had been born, and was ok or so they thought. Shortly after, she went into distress and they started running tests and taking x-rays. The doctors came to the conclusion that she had a hole in her heart, so they rushed her to Dallas. As soon as my hubby got off the phone with our friend, I called my friend from church in charge of our one-call and got the prayer-team into action. We started praying for this little baby. When they got her there and ran more test, they found that she DID NOT have a hole in her heart after all. The specialist in Dallas couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with the baby girl and sent her home. NO one can tell me that prayers don't work.

Contemplations:

What is complicated in your life right now?

How can the message of this seed (love God and keep His commandments) speak to your complicated situation?

Personal Prayer: Lord, help me feel your love and apply your Word to my complicated life, especially when (Insert your own needs).
