Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is
anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is
any one of you sick? He should call the elders of
the church to pray over him and anoint him
with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer
offered in faith will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned,
he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to
each other and pray for each other so that you
may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is
powerful and effective.
God Wants Us To Depend on Him and His Word.
The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
I couldn't help but realize where this last scripture took me in my mind and heart. Do you remember that God said He created us in His own image? I don't know about y'all, but after reading all of the traits listed above, it makes me ashamed, to see how far we as a human race have "missed the mark". I have heard so many time "well, they're only human", and goodness knows I, myself have used that line and never thought about it, but God made us human, gave us honored us by showing enough faith in His creation to give us"free will" and look what we've done with it. Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but it seems that we could all check our spirits, and take inventory of our good traits and our not so good traits and see how we "measure up to 'God's Image.'"
Good Night and May God Bless!
