"ATTITUDES THAT BRING ON BLASPHEMY"

Good Evening to Everyone!

Hello Everyone!  As you can see, this is a very old post.  I was going through my blog entries looking for a specific post, but this one caught my eye, due to the climate today.  The disrespect for the faith, God Himself and and Christianity in general.  I couldn't pass it by.  I had to repost it.

(original post)
I didn't post last night. I looked through my devotional books, opened my Bible, went through my notes. I even "told" God, "Lord, I always say this is your blog, so what do you want me to write about tonight? Blank....Nothing came to me, so I went to bed. This morning, I woke up with my blog on my mind. My thoughts were racing. Blaspheming! People automatically think of blaspheming as using God's Name in vain, or denying the Holy Ghost (which it is), but there is more to it. People do it all the time without even thinking about it. According to my Biblical Cyclopedic Index word study, in its wider sense this verb means "to injure the reputation of," "to defame", "to slander", "to revile" and it is used in relation to humans (as in Romans 3:8). Most New Testament usages of blasphemeo pertain to the defamation of the sacred, and it is properly translated as "blaspheme," especially in instances where people "blaspheme" God (Revelations 5:11). Jesus gravely warns against blaspheming the Holy Spirit in Mark 3:29. Some of the following attitudes I have typed the scriptures out, and some I have linked. The ones which I think are most common I typed out the verses so that maybe if anyone happens to have these attitudes at one time or another, they might see where they may need an attitude adjustment. My Pastor gave an example the other night. The example was an airplane. There is an instrument on the plane called an "altitude. It has to do with the inclination of the plane relative to the wind velocity. He referenced this altitude with our own human attitudes. If the plane's altitude is broken, it can cause the plane to crash. Much like our own human attitude. If we have the wrong or a bad attitude toward people or life, it can cause our spiritual self to crash instead of doing a "steady climb toward heaven, it could easily cause us to "crash and burn" (I couldn't resist that little saying).

We must keep our attitudes on an upward climb toward our ultimate goal and we do this by keeping a check on our thoughts, our words, and our actions. All these begin with the right attitude. Remember what I said about crashing and burning, well, blaspheming God or the Holy Ghost will cause that in a hurry if we aren't careful. We must remember, God Hears Every Word, and knows our every thought. Let me tell you just some of the attitudes that blasphemy (cursing God) arises out of. Pride: Psalm 73:9, 11 states 9They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. 11And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? Ezekiel 35:12, 13 says 12And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

13Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them. Hatred: Psalm 74:18 lets us know 18Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached(find fault with or blame), O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name. Affliction: Isaiah 8:21 Injustice: Isaiah 52:5, Defiance: Isaiah 36:15-20, Skepticism: 8And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem? Mal. 3:13, 14 13Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? Self-deification: Daniel 11:36, 37; 36And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. This one to me kind of hit home.

I know there have been times when I felt like I was supposed to do one thing but decided to do something else. Sometimes I don't even pray about things I just jump in feet first. The problem is when I do things that way, I usually end up messing up, or whatever it is I'm doing doesn't work out. We always need to include God in our plans and then DO WHAT HE SAYS. 2 Thessalonians 2:4: 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. We also should praise God for all things and GIVE HIM THE GLORY. For anything good that happens is His doing, not ours. We are NOTHING without Him. The last attitude on my list is Unworthy conduct: 2 Samuel 12:13, 14; 13And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.14Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. Romans 2:24: 24For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. All of these attitudes bring out the worst in a person and can cause us to fall from grace if left unchecked. I know, we are all human, we will ALL make mistakes. The key is to realize it when we do, ADMIT it, and rectify them. Most of all, N E V E R blaspheme the Holy Ghost. He is the power behind us. He is our "guidance system". Always acknowledge God, and realize if it weren't for Him, you wouldn't be here. Remember, when you start having a "pity party" about how bad things are think about how bad they would be if God wasn't there to "pick you up and carry you". The Holy Ghost is what helps you to "do the right thing". Yes, you have free will, and YOU CHOOSE which path to take, but the Holy Ghost is still there nudging you to do what is right. I hope you will look over these verses again and the attitudes which cause blaspheming, because I think we do it sometimes without thinking. You don't have to use the Lord's name in vain to blaspheme. Remember that. Satan likes for us to show these attitudes. Every time we do, his hold on us gets a little stronger until our conscience is seared, and we no longer hear God's still, small voice.

Then it will be too late. I challenge each and every one of you to keep a check on your attitudes. I've read that if you do something for 21 days, it because a "habit". Lets all see if we can keep good spiritual and loving attitudes for the next 21 days. Instead of getting angry with you spouse or children and saying something snide or hateful, look at them and say " I love you too." When my hubby gets sarcastic or short with me, that's what I do. He doesn't know how to react to that. LOL! Needless to say it lightens the mood. Good night to All and May God Bless!
