CONFERENCE OF 2011-"Getting the Job Done"

Good Evening to All!

Our Theme this year was on the "banner on the right. The speakers spoke on subjects such as "Getting the Job Done" or "Finishing the Job", Not allowing doubt and fear to interfere with our walk with God, (I'll go more into that one in another post), and other subjects along those lines.

I had a WONDERFUL time at the Conference, but I'm glad to be home! I cannot figure out why it is that I can stay up PAST midnight every night, and rise in the morning at 7:30 am, and get along fine. Yet, for three days, I do the same thing time-wise, it's just that rather than doing my home chores, cleaning houses, working out at Curves, and spending at least 3-5 hours on the computer every night, I was in church services. Except for the first night (Thursday) in which we spent 4 hours getting there, then getting checked into the Conference, then our hotel, and having an evening service which lasted from 6:30 until 10:30 pm, we were in church from 9am-about 1:30 pm or 2. Then we went out for lunch, went shopping for 2 hours, went back to the hotel for about an hour or hour and a half, changed clothes and went back to church at 6:30pm until 10:30, went out for supper and got back to the room about 12:00 or 12:30 am, only to get up at 7:30 am and start all over. It was tiring, but oh, so worth it!!

I got so much from the services! We had several speakers, and on the first night they even presented a play for us about Esther. It was awesome.

Well, I won't go into what ALL of the speakers talked about, but one that really spoke to my heart was Ruth Harvey. She was an excellent speaker. She was humorous, yet she definitely got the point across. Her first topic was about "Finishing the Job". She spoke of 1 Samuel 15:8 when God told King Saul to kill ALL of the Amalekites, yet Saul allowed King Agag to live. Samuel ended up cutting Agag into pieces.

Now, I'm sure you are wondering what this has to do with "getting the job done". Later on down the line, in Esther, we find that their is someone who is trying to destroy the Israelites. Guess who that is, yes, it is Hamen, who is a descendant of Agag. If Saul would have done what God had told him to do in the first place, Esther would not have had to see her people fight another war. Since her husband had already given a decree to destroy the Israelites (thanks to Hamen), he could not change it. Therefore, all he could do to appease his wife Esther the queen was to allow the Jews to gather together to defend themselves. Which they did and were able to slay their enemies including the 10 sons of Hamen. In case you are wondering, THIS got the job done. Hamen had no living descendants, therefore no one left from Agag's lineage. Esther got the job done with God's help.

If we aren't careful, we are just like Saul. We may have "good intentions" and may start out strong, but when things start getting tough, and things become a little more difficult, we tend to back off. That is not the time to back off. We need to get the job finished. If we don't get it finished the first time, it may just come back to destroy us, or as modern vernacular says, "it might come back to bite us!)

I wonder how many times the outcome of a problem or situation would have been different if I would have seen it through. All I had to do was pray to God for strength, and He would have helped me to continue, but I quit. I "gave up". Oh! How thankful I am that God hasn't given up on me!

I made it my personal promise to God at the Conference that I would not give up from now on. I will see things through. I will pray to Him for the help and strength I need, and then plod on through the muck and the mire of the problem or situation and finish the job. See it through to the end, with God's Help.

I am NOT saying I will attempt to do things ON MY OWN. Only with God's help, can I rest assured that the outcome will be the right one.

The Answers to the Bible Challenge "What's In a Name? Part 2 are as follows:

1. c) mother of all living ( Genesis 3:20)
2. True (Hebrews 6:19)
3. False (no reference)
4. True ( Psalm 18:2)
5. d) Napthali (Genesis 30:7-8)
6. d) Pharaoh's daughter (Exodus 2:10)
7. d) teacher (John 1:38)
8. c) because many spirits possessed him (Mark 5:1-17)
9. b) Joses (Acts 4:36)
10. d) Mercury/Jupiter (Acts 14:8-18)

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

Thank you for sharing this. All too often it seems that in the cricial moments, when decisions need to be made I see our human tendancy to want the waver or want the easy way out... and later suffer the consequences of not getting the job done... my own family is seeing this today. It is a reminder for our future generations and raising children and a message we need to hear more of for our own good.
