Book Review - "SPIRITUAL WARFARE FOR WOMEN"

I am in the process of reading a really great book. I am really enjoying Spiritual Warfare for Women--Winning the Battle for Your Home, Family and Friends by Leighann McCoy. This book was sent to me through Bethany House Publishers. I received no other compensation with the exception of this complementary copy of the book. My opinions are my own.

I love her style of writing. The book is set in short sub-sections within the chapter. This way I don't feel overwhelmed as though I will "never get through the chapter".

It is a fairly short book of 234 pages (not counting the Bibliography), but it definitely packs a punch. She is not vague at all. She doesn't speak in "general terms". She gets right down to the nitty-gritty and helps us to understand what we must do and how we must fight the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this age.

She asks practical questions, and then gives direct scriptural responses. She also uses her personal experiences for a back drop. Believe me, if she can get through the hurdles which she has had to overcome, then I know I can get through whatever Satan throws at me. I just have to remember the battle is already won. I just have to depend and trust Jesus.

She goes through each specific subject, Family, Friends, Health, Marriage and so on. She provides us with practical applications, as well as the scriptures to go along with them. I have already gotten so much from this book and I am not completely through reading it. I know when I finish, I plan to go back and re-read it. These are things which I need to get into my heart, so that I will be well equipped when Satan comes at me. After all, when that happens, I may not have a Bible with me all the time to be able to look up the scriptures. I need them in my heart so that God can bring them to my remembrance at a second's notice.

This is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone to help them build their faith and make them a stronger "warrior" against Satan who has come to steal, kill and destroy our joy in the Lord.

I really enjoyed and took to heart what was said in the Forward of this book. He reminds us that Paul warned us in 1 Timothy 4:1 that "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon their faith to follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. That is presently happening all over the world.

The only way to fight this problem is by putting on the "full armor of God, from the helmet of Salvation to the shoes of the gospel. This kind of war cannot be fought by carnal or physical means because it is not of the physical nature.

Speaking of wars, the claim for the Shortest war in the physical world goes to Britain vs. Zanzibar back in 1896 which lasted 45 minutes. The Shortest war in American History goes to the Spanish-American War which was 113 days.

The shortest war Ever goes to Lucifer vs. God. Needless to say God won that one when He through Lucifer and his merry band of followers out of heaven.

The longest war that wins hands down in our spiritual war. It has been going on since the Garden of Eden, and it's still going on today. ( These facts were not included in her book, I just thought they were interesting and pertained to war.

She is the prayer and women's minister at a large Southern Baptist church where her husband serves as Pastor, and she has written a number of devotionals and Bible studies for women. She lives with her family in Franklin, Tennessee.
