"FATHER KNOWS BEST" - Challenge Answers

Good Evening to All!

Seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
(Matthew 6:33 AMP. ver.)
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)

The reason I am wanting to elaborate on this verse is because people take it out of context continually. They think it means that if you "pray" , then you will get what you want. This is NOT necessarily so.

If you will read verse 31, you will see that it says "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or "What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." Then comes But seek ye first . . . .

Actually, from Matthew 6:19 on, it is talking about our carnal desires and needs and how we shouldn't be worried about them because if we have our priorities straight and the eyes of our hearts upon God, HE will take care of all of our needs, and maybe even some of our desires if they are found to be in the will of God.

According to the NKJV Reference: To seek . . the kingdom of God and His righteousness means to desire God's righteous rule on this earth (vv 9-10). The thing I have found is if I am seeking the will of God, and if I am right with God, then my desires are to be what God desires for my life.

This is how I can tell if I am "becoming more like Him". My desires become less carnal and more spiritual.

God's desire for us is to seek righteousness, peace, and joy, which is His kingdom according to Romans 14:17. He wants us to deeply desire right behavior and all that we can to pursue it, and when we do He promises to add the things we need and desire. He wants us to seek Him, and when we do He is pleased to bless us.

If we go through this life constantly wanting more material things, striving to "keep up with the Jones's, we will end up "missing out" on the true blessings of God. It is much better to pray and let God provide , than to torment yourself trying to make things happen yourself. Always remember that God is Good and He wants to be good to you, so keep your eyes on Him and His Kingdom and look forward to His providing the things that are right for you.

There is another verse that could go right along side of this topic, and that is to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. Sometimes we get confused as to what we want, and what we really need. God knows it all. Let Him make the right choice for you.

We need to remember that all things here on earth are temporal. They will pass away. It is the treasures which we lay up in heaven, that will matter in the end. Really it is they that matter even now, because God keeps track of everything we do and say. He knows what we do here on earth for His kingdom. Not just our "works" but our attitudes, our love and charity which we show to others. These are all considered to be treasures being laid up in heaven. We must also remember that when we seek recognition here, that is our reward.

Keep in mind that the phrase "Father Knows Best" actually has more meaning than as the title of an old TV series. Our Heavenly Father Definitely Knows Best.

Well, as I got off to a late start on my post, I think I will allow this one to be short and sweet.

The answers to the Bible Challenge are as follows:

1. c) he slew the Egyptian (Exodus 2:11-12)
2. c) Sabbath breaking (Numbers 15:32-36)

It's true, and I'm reminded of a line from the film 'Miracle on 34th Street', we could be praying for things we don't need or couldn't possibly use if we got them!

Hi Patti dear,
Yes!! I agree with you...
All things in this world are temporal. They will vanish in no time. We must focus in the important things, our spiritual life. The Lord promised everlasting life to His faithful believers. So, we may enter into the Golden Gates when the time comes, as God promised. You see, this day, I have received a very sad news that broke my heart. One of my best Online friends for many years, his name is Doug, and he is from England, an English Christian gentleman in his late mid 60's, he has undergone an eye surgery recently which failed. He lost one eye. He is blind of one eye. He needs more surgery on the other eye, but he is afraid to get it now. As he is not able to handle his life by himself anylonger. He is looking for a Care Home to live for the rest of his life in this world. Doug said good-bye to his Online Community friends, and he won't turn on his PC after the end of this month of July. In brief, I began to cry an Ocean of tears, like a Tsunami. I have been praying so much for my dear friend, Doug. Our prayers have not been answered. God's will be done in all circumstances. Perhaps, God has another plan for Doug in his life. Doug will live in a Care Home soon. He is only 65 years old. He suffers from diabetes, and a poor eye vision. He was doing International Ministry in the Internet for many years. He used to live in Australia. He has 3 sons, but they don't care for him. Doug was born in England, so he returned there for his Health Care. You see, Patti, how life may turn to us, change us. We are temporal human beings. We never know when God will call us. It will be sooner or later. We must turn our eyes focus in God, and in God only. Material things will vanish into thin air sooner or later. Patti, would you please, read my post,"The cause of freedom", at my poetry blog, if you care to read and post your wise appraisals, sweetheart??
I highly appreciate your wise evaluations and comments. I love your wisdom. You indeed, show it in your amazing blog. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with the world, Patti!!
God's richest blessings may always abound in your life, Patti!!
