"THE ADDICTION OF SIN"

Good Evening to All

Immediately he went after her, (the harlot) as an ox goes to the slaughter,
Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, (23) Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life.
(Proverbs 7:22-23 NKJV)

In this devotion, the writer was comparing the addiction to drugs, to the addiction to sin. A lot of times, even if we are not attracted to whatever the "sin" is, be it smoking to an excess, or drinking to an excess, whether it is promiscuity or just plan porn. Some people just cannot help themselves. The thing is, GOD CAN HELP. With His help, we can overcome anything. Any kind of addiction, and any kind of sin. We have to get this mindset, because if we don't, if this "sin or addiction isn't cleaned out of our bodies, our hearts, it can kill us.

We often make the mistake of telling ourselves "what I'm doing "isn't that bad", or I'm not hurting anyone. We fail to realize that if we start justifying or "downplaying the problem, it will only get worse, where eventually it will be too late for us to turn back.

If we will just realize what a big and powerful God we have, a God who is more powerful than any addiction or problem that exists, He can help us through ANYTHING.

I know this first hand. He has delivered me from drinking and smoking. I have also seen Him heal people with my own eyes. So I have no doubt how powerful God is.

The thing is we must let Him. We have to seriously want to be helped. We have to do our part. I remember I went to the altar MANY times before I was delivered from smoking. It wasn't that He didn't want to deliver me. He "already had". God is not slack on His promises and what He says He will do, He will do. The problem was I would go up and ask for prayer, and then as soon as I got out of church, not even out of the parking lot, I would light up a cigarette. It tells us in God's Word to "flee from evil". Cigarettes may not be evil, but God says Not to Tempt Him. In other words, once you ask for deliverance from cigarettes, don't keep them around to
see how strong you are . (I did that the first few times. I told myself that I wanted to keep them "just in case". Let me hear you say it, "WRONG ATTITUDE!" That's like getting married but keeping divorce papers handy "just in case". We are not to tempt ourselves, because when we do that after asking God for help, it's like we're testing Him to see who is stronger our will or His.

As strong as God is, our will would win out, because God WILL NOT forces His will on us.

Remember, with faith, we can move mountains. God can get us through anything. All we have to do is ask, listen to what He tells us, and then abide by what He says.

Good Night to All and May God Bless!
