Book Review - "YOUR BEAUTIFUL PURPOSE" by Susie Larson

Good Evening to All!

"Your Beautiful Purpose" by Susie Larson was sent to me as a complimentary copy for my open and honest opinion of this book from Bethany House Publishers

I must say, this is one of my favorite types of books.  I enjoy books that help to make me think about my spiritual outlook a lot deeper, as well as books that help me to grow to a deeper level with God.  This book happens to do both of those things.

I really enjoyed her style of writing.  she uses practical, yet spiritual ways help us to overcome the obstacles that seem to get in our way of serving God every day. She makes everything seem so easy.  In her book, she shows us how to discern the best use of our time and gifts, confidently pursue God's unique desires for each of us, and stretch our faith and deepen our impact of Christ to others.

She makes these things seem "doable", whereas in some instances, I have read books that intend on doing the same thing, yet I have to "weed through" the million dollar vocabulary or very intellectual language, and usually end  up putting the book down, never to pick it up again.  Susie Larson's book doesn't have that effect on me.  It is interesting, and makes me want to continue on reading it because of her down to earth way of writing.  It's like she's talking "my language", and not saying "look how smart I am, I can use these huge words!"

I am one of those kind of people who pretty much have to have things spelled out for me.  Not because I am dumb, but because it is hard for me to retain what I read, therefore the more simple the ideas the easier to remember.

Don't get me wrong.  Her ideas are not simple.  It is just that they are straight and to the point.  They don't beat around the bush trying to make something as deep as "embracing your calling" deep and complex.  She makes it sound as simple as "believing" that you are called.  For example, it is much easier to "share your faith" with someone if you believe you can do it, not under your own power, but because God will guide you.  Of course, there is more to it, but she makes it much easier to understand, and I will leave it to you to read her book to get the full impact.

She goes into much more detail about how we develop our purpose.  Our actual purpose for which God put us on this earth is to worship Him, get His Word out to others, to love Him and to do His will, not because He is forcing us to, but to do it because His desires for us are to be our desires for ourselves and through Susie's book, we can learn how to put our faith into action and actually begin to accomplish this goal.

Another thing I like about this book is that she has included "Study Questions" as well as Discussion Starters at the end of each chapter to help us make sure we have grasp what she has taught us.

This book is a "must have" for anyone who is interested in developing their walk with God, and determining how to discern where, when and how to utilize the gifts which God has given them with which to edify Him.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.  It has been totally eye-opening for me and I definitely plan to put her ideas to good use.
