GOD, gods, and Latchhook Kits

Good Evening to All!

Did you know that in today's terms there can be all kinds of "gods"? A god can be anything you worship, or spend too much time with or doing. Anything you hang to tightly to. Money can be a god, computers can be gods, food ....and the list goes on. Anytime you put something above the love or worship of God, it ( whatever "it" is) becomes your god. I have really had to step back and check out myself in this matter, because I know I spend three quarters of my time on this computer. If I'm not checking e-mail, I playing games, if I'm not playing games, I'm typing my blog, and so on. I used to get on here maybe 2 hours a day, and part of that was "reading and listening to the Bible online. I haven't done that in months. I am going to start again though. My husband has even noticed. Several months ago, he spent over a hundred dollars on latchhook kits for me (3). I just now finished the first one. I started it and put it aside for 2 months, and just now decided to finish it. I used the excuse my wrist was hurting, which was the truth at first, when I went to the doctor for it, he said it was inflamed tendons on the side of my wrist and up my arm from repetitive motion, kind of like carpal tunnel only in a different spot, and affecting the tendons not the nerves. Anyway, long story short, I quit doing my latchhook presumably until it quit hurting, but didn't quit typing on the computer. Needless to say, it got some better, but not completely. I started working on the latchhook a few days ago, and my wrist started hurting again. Guess what! I'm still typing. I did finish that latchhook though, now all I need is a frame. This one measures 27"x 30". I have done quite a few others. This next one, I did for my mother-in-law for her birthday a while back. It was on dowels, she has decided now that she wants a frame. This looks just like her golden retriever who has since passed away. I was the largest one I've done to date. I can't remember how big it was but I know it is quite a bit larger than the one I just finished. My whole point of this is to let you know how easy it is to get carried away with things, and let time, money, or even relationships dwindle from spending too much time away from them and not taking care of what is important. That is why I've made up my mind as of tomorrow, I am going to schedule myself certain amounts of time for certain things, going by priority, and I'm going to start by reading and listening to the Bible again. I feel like my relationship with God has suffered, even though I do spend time in the Bible while I'm typing my posts, but it isn't the same as really studying. Maybe that will even give me more insight to what should be in my posts each night. Anyway, I'm going back to basics and return God to His rightful place at the top of my list. "Thou shalt have NO other gods before me." So I won't. Thank you Lord for bringing this to my attention. Please do not hesitate to nudge me in the right direction, or chastise me if need be. As Your Word says, you chastise those you love.
The fish is the first one I did. I did it for my husband's birthday, as he was an avid fisherman. He built the frame for it. As he will build frames for all the others. He doesn't do much fishing anymore, so I guess I need to find one of a movie projector or cd player. His hobby now is burning and copying old movies (30's and 40's westerns). The Heart kit was a gift, and the little bear was my test run before I did the big ones (except for the heart). Anyway, this is my hobby when I can afford it. The one's I like to do a so large that they cost quite a bit more. That is one reason I am spreading out the latchhooks that my hubby bought for me. I don't know when I'll be getting more. Now that I've finished the "Bless this House" kit, I'm going to start on a "sunset silhouette. It is 34"x25". I have to say these are very good therapy. I know they don't look difficult to do, but when doing them, I have to keep up with counting the squares and colors, as well as rows and such, so I don't have time to think about much else. I learned my lesson about quitting before a row was completed. I ended up tearing it apart and starting over. Anyway, I guess I have bored y'all to tears enough, so I'll close and go to bed. 7:am comes early when it is now after 2am. I wanted to finish the latchhook before I did my post, and thought you might like to see some of what I have done. Be sure and remember that the empty squares won't be seen as they are behind a frame and covered with backing. I like them because they are 3-D, and you can vacuum them when they get dusty.

I'll say one more thing before closing. Sorry for getting off track. My mind gets several points in it that it wants me to write about, and if I don't do it then, I forget. My English teacher would "flog" me if he were to read this post. Anyway, I apologize for the sloppy writing.

Good Night and May God Bless!
PJ
