Six Keys to Resisting the Devil We are here to evangelize to the world, and equip the people of God for spiritual warfare.

We had a really good Sunday school lesson yesterday. The following is some of my notes that I took to refer back to in times of reflection, doubt or uncertainty.

1. ) 1 John 5:4 - For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. We are born of God, therefore, our faith in God is what overcomes the world. "Sometimes we need to remind the devil 'who our "daddy" is! It is who we are in Christ. God is stronger than the devil.

Romans 6:17-18 - But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. An having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.

2.) 1 John 4:4 - We are an overcomer . He who is in me is greater than he who is in the "world". (Satan).

The devil only has as much power as we let him have. If we are full of Christ, Satan has no room in us. Satan is limited by the Christ who lives within. (Holy Spirit).

Sometimes we just have to show the Devil our "Fire Power". (Our faith in and knowledge of God and His Word. (As Jesus resisted the devil by saying "It is written......).

3.) Submission - James 4:7 a) Therefore, submit to God.

According to Jeremiah, we do not even know our own hearts. Therefore we should be submissive to God in all ways.

4. ) Resist - James 4:7b - Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Submission to God gives us power to resist the devil.
We must have self control and remain alert.
Indifference will open the door to the enemy.
If you are undecided in one area , that's an open door for the enemy. People who are not alert tend to go the way of Least Resistance.

Offer the devil opposing view of anything he offers.

5.) 1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world.

Matthew 6:24 - No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth, money or property).

Lot's wife looked back for a long to Sodom (the world) and turned into a pillar of salt. This idea is known as Separation.

6) Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ( NKJV)
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. ( KJV)

I have heard people mention and make a big deal about the "misquotation" of the above scripture. At first, I thought the same thing, but the more I thought about it and studied it, the more I realized that they were actually saying basically the same thing. The NKJV uses the word "who' strengthens me and the KJV says "which".

(a) I can do all things through Christ WHO strengthens me. (Giving Christ the glory for my strength).
(b) I can do all things through Christ WHICH strengthens me. (saying the Knowledge of knowing where my help comes from Strengthens me.

All in all, Christ is the one who gets the Glory either way.

Remember, Faith says: God Can : Trust says "but if He doesn't I'll love Him anyway.

Just think of these 6 Keys for Resistance when temptations come your way or the devil attacks you.

Good Night and May God Bless!
