Nicodemus

Good Evening to All!

Sorry I'm so late getting this post out. Hubby and I just finished watching the DVD of the Tooth Fairy starring the Rock and Ashley Judd. It was adorable! That's my kind of movie. No foul language, good clean humor, and NO SEX! I definitely recommend it.

"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit". How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will yo believe if I speak of heavenly things?"
John 3:8-12

Jesus used the wind as an illustration of the work of the Holy spirit. The Greek word translated Spirit also means "wind." As the wind blows where it wishes, that is the way the Holy Spirit
works. Likewise no one knows the origin or destination of the wind, but everyone knows it is there. The same is true for the Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered Nicodemus' question, but first he reprimanded him for being a teacher of the Hebrew scriptures but not know about the spiritual birth.

"You do not receive" is meant as a plural you. Jesus had more people in mind beyond Nicodemus. Here, Jesus rebuked not only Nicodemus, but also the other Pharisees.

I think the rest of the scriptures were self explanatory.

Good Night and May God Bless!
