LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY

Good Evening to All!

I posted this a few days back, but I didn't get to much response to it because it was WAY DOWN at the bottom of my post so I don't know if anyone other than my sweet friend Lynette read it. It is SO IMPORTANT. I feel in my spirit that I need to re-post this particular part, and that is one of my new commitments to God, to listen to what HE tells me to do and DO IT whether I agree or not. We must be a Doer of the Word and Not just a HEARER. We miss a lot of blessings when we feel in our spirits that God wants us to do something but are afraid what people will think, or like me and this post feel like it may be redundant and people will be bored. I am fighting " my flesh against my spirit. I worry too much about earthly problems like "what people will say". I started to say " what they think", but I need to care about that. I need them to see me as Christ's example of how we should be" and let HIS light shine through me. Part of that is listening to my spirit when HE speaks to it and DOING what it says. In my spirit I feel that too many people use the excuse "I don't pray because I don't know how". Jesus gave us the "Lord's Prayer as a guide. It is a beautiful prayer, but it is also to be used as a guide on how to pray for those who don't know. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble so I better quit and get to the "meat" of the post. I think this will make you see the Lord's Prayer in a different light. May God open your hearts and your eyes to this post and to you're own spirit when He Speaks to You. Thank you for allowing me this privilege. I do this in Jesus' Name.

T H E L O R D ' S P R A Y E R ( BROKEN DOWN)

1. Praise and Sovereignty -Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed by thy name (means to *revere Him) * to regard with respect tinged with awe.

2. Submission and Invitation - Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, (We submit all of this to Him. It is an act of dependence.)

3. Petition and Provision - Give us this day our daily bread.
( I have heard two different meanings of this) (1) it is talking about the manna (provision-food), and also (2) referring to God's Word as "bread".

4. Confession and Forgiveness - Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. (Confession, and forgive is in the same measure ) In other words, we must forgive just as much as we need forgiving.

5. Spiritual Protection - Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

6. Praise and Agreement - For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory for ever.

7. Amen - So be it. I give you permission and agree with your ways.

A DELAY IS NOT A DENIAL - Special-The Lord's Prayer

How many out there have at one time or another thought you had waited and decided that the Lord was denying your request so you gave up? Come on! Raise your hands! I know I'm not the only one!

In actuality, God had not denied our petitions. He was waiting for the right time. We must remember that our time is NOT God's time. As a matter of fact, God doesn't have a time-line. That is way He can see our past, present and future. He never had a beginning and He will never end. That is what eternal means. As the Bible says a day is like a thousand years.

We must wait on the Lord. He knows what 's best for us. Therefore, He will answer us when His time is right. I can't count the times that I gave up on God's timing and decided to "help myself". Boy! Was that a mistake! When I do that I usually end up[ making a mess of things. God knows just the right time to make things happen.

Just because we may have to wait a long time does not mean the answer is no. Sometimes whatever we are waiting for needs something else to fall into place first. Sometimes God wants us to wait because we may not be mature enough to handle what will transpire when He answers this prayer.

I like the way Joyce Meyer says it in her book "Hearing GOD Each Morning". Many delays are "divine delays." They are designed by God to do a work in us that needs to be done. If we continue serving God faithfully even during times of darkness, we develop strong godly character. Some GOOD examples are Joseph who waited 13 years to see the answers to his prayers come about. Another one is Abraham who waited 20. Now that's what I call faithfulness to God.

We through cliches out about this right and left such as "patience has never been one of my virtues", or "it was worth the wait". We say these comments, but do we mean them? The first one, well, if patience isn't one of our virtues, then we need to pray and talk to God about it, because it is one of the "fruits of the Spirit", and these things we should ALL strive to have.

God promises to deliver us from our enemies, but we must remember to pray for them, because this is something God says to do.

must Learn to wait peacefully , or a lot of our life may be miserable and we can blame no one but ourselves. We are Christians. We know what to do. We know what is right.

Also, another note to remember is in John, Jesus tells us if God's Words abide in us and we in Him, then anything we ask in His names will be given to us as long as what we ask is in His will.

Remember, don't give up on God so easily. Wait on Him to decide when the time is right. You will definitely be rewarded.

Inspirations and Thoughts

Daily Inspirations from the NIV

Jesus said, "This , then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'" I am still very partial to the King James Version which states its like this: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I don't know what it is, I can't put my finger on it. It just seems to ring better in my ears and my heart with the KJV. I do like the NIV for study, but that's all. There are a lot of things missing from the NIV
compared to the KJV such as all of the "begottens and begats as in Chronicles.
the words begat or begotten are important because they mean "born of woman". These words has nothing to do with the word "only". Also, there are misquotes such as Matthew 18:21-22 when Peter asked the Lord how many time to forgive people and He said 70 times 7. To reaffirm this KJV verse it says; Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?" (22) According to the KJV, it states: Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
The NIV states it like this; (21) Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" (22) Jesus answered, "I tell you ,not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Last time I checked 70 x 7 = 490, not 77. Anyway, those are just a couple of discrepancies I have found. I'm not saying not to use the NIV, because as I said I do for study. Just be careful and reaffirm it by the
KJV.

Now that I got totally off track, let's try this again. As far as the Lord's Prayer goes, I can't count the times which I've heard people say they didn't know how to pray. I tell them two things. The first being; "just remember He's your friend, so you can talk to Him just like you would anyone else in a conversation. If that doesn't feel comfortable, the quote the Lord's Prayer (and I recite it to them). I say this is the way Jesus told the disciples to pray and it covers everything. This usually answers their questions and gives them the confidence they need to be able to talk to God.

Matthew 18:21-22, Matthew 6:9-10

You ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

James 4:15

A little saying I have always heard is; if you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans.

It never fails. I've had my plans changed (for me) so many times I can't count them. That wouldn't be so bad, except most of the time, I know it's the wrong decision when I make it. If I would just learn to listen to that "small still voice" inside when I'm trying to make up my mind about something, things would probably run a lot smoother. I am slowly but surely learning to do this, and it is becoming more of a habit (still not consistent, but more often) that I say for example , Lord willing, I'll see you tomorrow, or Lord willing I'll be there. None of us truly knows what is going to happen when we walk out the door, so I like the last words I say to someone to be in "God's will".


Jesus prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."

KJV-He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Matthew 26:42


This verse really makes me take stock in my fortitude. I mean, Jesus was facing sure death, and was so strong. He didn't like it, but He knew it had to be done. This was the "flesh" talking to the Devine. More or less saying I really don't want to do this, but "You're the boss, so your will be

done. I would probably be trying every way in the world to get out of it. making excuses, or whatever I had to do to stay alive. That's why I say it made me check my inner soul strength.

I know I said I wasn't going to post tonight, but I came in here and changed my mind. I hope this has helped someone tonight, whether it was just as an uplifting, or gave you some food for thought. I sincerely want to reach people and touch their hearts with my blog.
