A Lesson in Humility and Faith

Both of these pictures depict different stages of the mustard seed, from the seed to the full grown plants.

Daily Inspiration from the NIV
Jesus said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade." Mark 4:30-32

The King James Version says it like this: And he said, Where unto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

To me, this is one of the most meaningful and important verses in the Bible. If we don't have faith, then we have Nothing. All hope is lost. People make the mistake of interchanging the words hope and faith. To make this point stronger, Faith is the Substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not see. Hoping is more like a wish, where as Faith is Believing it will happen.

Jesus said, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this Mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it will obey you."
Luke 17:6

I'm sorry, I just cannot get used to the NIV Version of scripture. Please allow mew to reiterated this verse in KJV.

And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by teh root, and be tou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Luke 17:6 Now that's the way I learned it.

Bible Seeds
Why is it that this specific lesson is one of the hardest to get used to? Are we as a human race so addicted to control that we don't want to ask for help, even if we know that He always knows whats best for us, because He can see into our future? Are we really that vain of a species? We all need to practice giving up control a little at a time if need be. It's one thing not liking to be controlled by other humans, but our Creator is a different story.

Todays Seed: "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." James 1:5

KJV
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

"What will I do?" We often ask that question when confronted with a tough decision. We don't know which way to turn. We are confused and sometimes frightened. Who can we trust to give us direction in the tough issues of life?

James instructs us that the first place to turn is to God. Why do we tend to seek the answers elsewhere first? Do we think that God is not interested in all the little details of our lives? god does care. He cares about every detail. Our daily decisions are important to him. He is always ready and waiting to give guidance and direction when we ask him for wisdom.

Perhaps we don't ask God for directing because what we really don't ask because we are afraid he might ask something from us that we are not willing to give. Or maybe, when we ask, we don't really listen to hear his answer. God only wants what is best for us. he knows the future and can be trusted to direct us in the way that will ultimately bring us the greatest blessing.

Dig Deeper: For James, wisdom is a practical thing. It is not philosophic speculation and intellectual knowledge; it is concerned with the business of living. Christian wisdom is knowledge of the deep things of God as they apply to daily like. It is essentially practical.

Weed & Water: When you are wrestling with decisions, turn to God for direction. Go first to your Bible. Ask yourself, "what are the principles in God's Word that apply to my situation?" Ask God, in prayer, to direct you to those passages.. If you cannot find direct answers n Scripture, then turn to other Christians whose wisdom and counsel you respect. Often books written by respected Christians can give wise counsel. God works in many ways to answer our requests.

Sprout & Scatter: As we learn to wait and trust the Lord for wisdom in living, we will become an example to others. People may seek up out for help n discerning the answers to their problems. As we grow in faith, trusting the Lord for answers to the daily problems of life, we also grow in wisdom. We can help others discover wisdom by our example of trusting God for answers.

Think about it: Where do you need wisdom right now?

How can you discover what God wants yo to do?

Prayer Pot: Dear God, please give me wisdom for ......

Wisdom has two parts: listening and learning.
Good night and May God Bless!

Thanksgiving Eve's Thoughts

Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord, He is God;
It is He that hath made us, not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful unto Him and bless His name.
For the Lord He is good;
and His mercy is everlasting.
His truth endureth to all generations.

This was my favorite Bible verse when I was a child, so I thought I would share it with you on this Thanksgiving Eve.

What I am Thankful for: I am thankful for a loving husband that will put up with my mood swings, lousy attitudes and moans and groans. I am thankful that God is changing my heart and working on me to be more patient and understanding. I am thankful that He has convicted me of thinking too much on the negative side of things. I'm thankful for the normal things such as my health, my wonderful church family, and loving friends. I have the best kind of friends anyone could ask for. Friends who will tell me when I am wrong about things, friends who will remind me about what God says about thinking negative and just general all around keeping me on the "straight and narrow". They do it with a loving tone and attitude, not judgemental. Therefore, I take it as "constructive criticism" rather than "destructive".

I am truly blessed in my life, and I hope that when I come into contact with others, I pass on the love that God has in my heart to others. I pray that I am a "shining example" of God's love to others as my "church elders" and friends are to me.

Bible Seeds

Everything We Need

Today's Seed: "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness." 2 Peter 1:3

Hidden in the middle of this seed is a powerful little phrase that can be easily overlooked as we hurry through our daily Bible reading. Three little words, "everything we need."

It doesn't say that God gives us some of what we need or part of what we need. It is a firm commitment; we are given "everything we need." God has given us "everything we need" through Jesus Christ. it tells us that we have been given all that we need to live life, and to live it in a godly manner.

Stop and thing--what do you need right this moment? According to this promise, whatever that may be is available to you. Now there are some qualifiers to the promise; What we need comes to use from Gods "divine power." Therefore, we must have received Jesus Christ as our Savior. and with that the presence of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within us, giving us power. That is the first qualifier. The second is getting to know Jesus Christ, who he is, how he lived and the example and instructions he left for us. So our needs must also be in accordance with the teachings of Scripture.

Dig Deeper: The Greek word for "knowledge" is ginosko. it means to take in knowledge, to come to know, recognize, and understand,. In the New Testament, ginosko often indicates a relationship between the person knowing and the person being known.

Weed & Water: Because everything we need will com3e through our relationship with Jesus Christ, we need to know him. The only way we can really get to know a person is to spend time with him or her. We also need to converse with him or her. So spending time with Jesus will include our reading the Bible to learn about his attributes, commands, and promises. It will also include our talking with him about our needs. In listening to him, we may find him clarifying the difference between what we see as our "needs" and what he sees as our wishes, wants, and desires. Have you ever stopped to consider that God might view your "needs" differently than you view them?

Sprout & Scatter: Many people get discouraged when they feel that God does not keep his promises. At such times they have confused their needs and God's view of their needs. As you begin to get to know God in a relationship you will understand the difference between needs and wishes or wants. Then you may be able to bring encouragement and hope to others. Matthew 6:33 reminds us: "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Think about it:

  • How can you get to know God better?
  • What is one "need" you have that God might see as a wish or want?

Prayer Pot: Dear God, show me the difference between my needs and wants and help me to .....

To my "friends" out in "Blogland" I thank you and wish you all a Very Happy Thanksgiving. ( Don't eat til you get sick, just happy).

God's Miracles and Bible Seeds

The Ten Commandments displayImage via Wikipedia

Good Evening to All!

I would like to elaborate on the word commandments. So many of us think of the word "commandments" as automatically meaning the Ten Commandments and that's the extent of it. We could not be further from the truth. According to Psalm 119:127, Commandments pertain to anything the Lord God has ordered. The word alludes to God's authority to govern His people. The commandments of God are positive and negative, specific and general, restrictive and permissive. Yet most important, they help a person to identity his or her way in a would that is filled with confusion, sin, and error. In other words, they are there to guide us on our journey through life to help keep us on the path to righteousness and Salvation. They are not all written in the form of "you will do this, or you better do that, or else. Some are written in a parable for example the "sower" , you reap what you sow. If you so discord, you will get discord back. If you treat people with love and respect, you will gain love and respect from others.

I have heard so many people say, "I don't read the Bible because I can't understand it. First of all, there are too many versions out there written in today's language to use that reason. Besides that, If you pray for God to give you understanding before you read, He will do so, and last but not least, the Bible isn't rocket science. Think of it as an instruction book for living. It is one of the most interesting books ever written. It's a romance novel, a history novel, a murder mystery, a how-to book, poetry and more all rolled into one.

According to Psalm 119:130, the entrance of God's Word brings light, which is something we all need. We do not always know or see what we need to do, and many times we do not recognize our own problems. We need God's light to understand ourselves and too see how we need to change and how we can cooperate with God to make things better. Reading God's Word is like looking in a mirror. It enables us to see what needs to be cleaned up in our lives.

Before I start Bible Seeds, I want to acknowledge two different blogs which have had miracles happen recently. My Charming Kids blog had their miracle in the form of Stellan's successful procedure. I truly believe he will be if not already completely healed, praise God.

The other is Yaya and Josh becoming parents! Be sure and check out their blog for the details! God is sooooo Great! His miracles never cease, we just don't look hard enough.

I am so happy for all the precious people involved in receiving these miracles!

God Bless you and may God keep His hand upon your families!

Bible Seeds Devotion:

Seeking His Face

Today's Seed: "I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven. Psalm 123:1

Have you ever searched for an important face in the crowd? Perhaps this happened when you walked into a darkened movie theater or when you were lost in a mob at the stadium. You may catch a glimpse of the person, only to have them disappear again.

Is God's face equally hard for you to locate? Or is He standing out above the crowd, looking directly at you when your eyes meet His? And once your eyes lock on His, are you able to maintain a steady gaze to see into His heart and soul for your life?

The psalmist who wrote today's seed was looking for God. His hope was tied to his knowledge that if he looked hard enough, he would witness God's mercy in his lifetime. God never hides His face from us. He does not play peekaboo, discounting our present condition.

When we have difficulty seeing God, it is often because we have focused our eyes on someone or something else. Our point of focus shifts too easily. Material possessions, self-worth, and personal fulfillment--all considered "noble" causes in today's society--have clouded our eyes. Unfortunately, we fixate on God for shorter periods of time and are quickly distracted by these so-called causes.
God's Word repeatedly reminds us to seek His face. The greatest blessing of seeking God's face may be that he also has His eyes trained on each one of us.

Background Bulb: Psalm 34:15 says, "The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy." How He does this we may never know, but we can trust in the Almighty's ability to watch over us. His majestic throne is in heaven, not here on earth.

Weed & Water: How can we seek the face of the Lord? God reveals Himself through His written Word, through prayer, and through fellowship with Himself and other believers. Eventually we won't have to look so hard to find His face. And we'll find that He was there all along. So keep seeking!

Think about it:

* Think abut the last time you couldn't see God's face. Why couldn't you?

* What benefits or blessings will come to you as a result of lifting up your eyes and seeing God's face?

Prayer Pot:

Dear Lord, I confess that my eyes... (insert in what way you need help focusing on God and His Word.

This isn't the exact picture I was looking for, but it really has some relevance as according to the Bible, we are to believe as little children in the Word of God. Therefore a child planting or harvesting seeds or flowers definitely shows relevance to this post.

Baby Jerry Look up, not in.

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

God's Recipe for A Good Marriage

A Little PerspectiveImage by loswl via Flickr

Good Evening Everyone!

I just love this picture. It amazes me when I think about how God just spoke it all into existance.

I hope this post finds everyone happy, healthy and wise!

The Amplified Version of the above quoted scripture is: (15) for it is God's will and intention that by doing right [your good and honest lives] should silence (muzzle, gag) the ignorant charges and ill-informed criticisms of foolish persons. (16) [Live] as free people, [yet] without employing your freedom as a pretext for wickedness; but [live at all times] as servants of God.
1 Peter 2:15-16

Tomorrow's Verse of the Day (12 midnight)

18For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:18

The Amplified Version of the above quoted scripture for tomorrow (Saturday's):
18For Christ [the Messiah Himself] died for sins once [a]for all, the Righteous for the unrighteous (the Just for the unjust, the Innocent for the guilty), that He might bring us to God. In His human body He was put to death, but He was made alive in the spirit,
1 Peter 3:18

Another thing which I would like to elaborate on is from last night's post. while I was looking up tonight's verses, I ran across this one in the Amplified Bible which goes right along with last night's Bible Seed: 1 Peter 3:1-2: IN LIKE manner, you married women, be submissive to your own husbands [subordinate yourselves as being secondary to and dependent on them, and adapt yourselves to them], so that even if any do not obey the Word [of God], they may be won over not by discussion buy by the [godly] lives of their wives. (2) when they observe the pure and modest way in which you conduct yourselves, together with your reverence [for your husband; you are to feel for him all that reverence includes: to respect, defer to , revere him, that is, to admire, praise, be devoted to , deeply love, and enjoy your husband].

Now, that is definitely a lesson in itself. These are two posts last night's and tonight's, that I need to print out and read and read over again. I definitely have to work on this. I have taken my hubby for granted so much, and feel so ashamed when reading the above scripture, because I do none of those things. Don't get me wrong, I do love him, and respect him, but the other just slips right on by. I never realized how badly I treated him until just now. Thank you for allowing me to vent, and think out loud. This has definitely made me have second thoughts about where lies the "blame" with in the difficulties in this relationship. I don't mean to "air dirty laundry" or advertise problems, by any means. I'm just saying that with no children in our 23 year marriage, we have started taking each other for granted, each wanting our own way about things, never complimenting each other because we think the other one knows how we feel, and so on. I'm sure we aren't the only couple with these types of "hangups", but This past lesson last night and tonight (scripture) have really opened my eyes. I truly hope that some of these "Bible Seeds" and scriptures have helped you and opened your eyes as they have mine.

If I may put a plug in for a couple of Books. Now, mind you this is not a book review. These books are ones which I have had for quite a while and I use them for study and devotion on my own. They are "The Everyday Life Bible (Amplified Version Featuring Notes and commentary by Joyce Meyer, and the second is "Bible Seeds" A Simple Study-Devotional for Growing in God's Word, From the Creators of the God's Word for the Biblically-Inept" Series. I guess that's why I like this little book so much. It doesn't take a scholar to understand the lessons.

Good Night to All and May God Bless!

Putting Things into Perspective

God's SearchlightImage by Anita363 via Flickr

* Before I get started, please take note: If anyone knows anything about the progress on people on my prayerline, please let me know so I can do a praise report, and if they are healed so I can take them off when God has answered our prayers. I know there is bound to be some good things happening. My prayer line is really getting long, and I hate to have to limit it to just names and a couple of words. They deserve more and so does God. He deserves all the credit.

* Also, to Yaya, and Free Spirit Haven, I am going to talk to Lynette and Nessa when I see them and see if we can revamp my blog template to accomodate large or wide buttons on the side bar. Yaya, I'm sorry you barely showed up in the button. I hope to get that remedied soon. I don't know how we'll be able to do it and have my prayer line also, but hopefully I'll be able to .

Good Morning Everyone!

This makes two morning posts in a row. Let's hope I can keep this going. I'm not a person who can get up at the "crack of dawn" and start typing like some of my blogger friends, (hi Lynette and and hi Yaya!)LOL! I'm sure there are others. I quit being a morning person when I had to quit my regular jobs ( 9-5 and 6-2). I really do need to get in the habit of posting in the daytime though because I have another very important project I really need to get back to at night which I h ave been horribly neglecting and my spirit is really speaking to me about it. I'll just have to be more careful about what I'm doing until I fully wake up in the morning. This is why I get so frustrated. I am trying to "wrap my text around my pictures and no matter what I try it doesn't work. It just lowers the pictures, or deletes them. Any suggestions are welcomed. I would like to make my blog look as nice and professional as the others I've seen.

Well, this is one reason I do my posts at night. I had a good size post written and stopped to add a picture, put it in the wrong place, tried to correct it by going the edit screen and deleted my post as well as the picture. Not one of my better days of posting. Anyway, here we go again.

I was talking about how wonderful it is the way God works. I wrote a post the other night about the worlds little gods, (money, computers, tv) anything that keeps people too busy to allow God into their schedules. That was several days ago that I planted that seed. Then as it would have it, God comes along and brings up this scripture today, after readers have had time to hopefully soak and retain some of what I wrote in that post and just reiterate what I spoke on. He is so great! I'm not saying that we have to quit doing any of these things just make sure we add God into the mixture. Besides, anytime we include God everything turns out better than we expect. Today's world seems to put too many things above our relationship with our Creator. We tend to put Him on the "back burner" for Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. I 've always heard "Seven days without God makes one Weak". I've found so does five. That is one reason I never doubt about writing about God, because He can turn what my little brain and fingers write into something memorable to others.

I'm guilty of putting things above Him at times also. I usually have my Bible read almost all the way through by now, but not this year. I'm gonna have to get busy if I planned to have it done this year. It's hard for me to read the regular Bible, so I read and listen to it on line. It helps Bible at the Rutherford County Court Houseme to retain it better if I hear it read as well as reading it myself. Anyway, I'm gonna have to get "crackin'" if I plan to get it done. This year at least the last 3 to 4 months, I've been concentrating on writing articles for AC and my blog. Associated Content hasn't panned out because I lost my passion for it after writing 3 articles. The first 2 were "Spiritual" and I felt really good about them, and the last one was about my Tennessee vacation, which I thought was very informative. Anyway, I just didn't do what I expected. I guess I expected too much. I only got a couple hundred page views and $1.50 for performance. I know I shouldn't have expected much in the way of money, but it was really a let down. I did however make a few new friends and fans. They were great at building up my confidence and self-esteem. I may try again after our Branson trip. The thing with AC is the articles are supposed to be informative and not personal. Everything I write is personal because it comes from my heart, and I don't know any other way. Before I started blogging, and I had just written my first article for AC, I turned it in for critique to the forum and I had a "contributor" tell me that it sounded like something I should blog about instead of putting it in as an AC article. At the time, I wasn't sure if she meant that as a "dig" or because it sounded personal. Anyway, I changed it up, and made it less personal and turned it in as a "display only" which meant they would print it no matter what it sounded like. I got the story out there, that is what mattered. That story was "Salvation or Misconceptions". Of course it was placed in the Spiritual and Religion section, so unless people were specifically looking for that type of article, it didn't get read, except by my "captive audience" readers who I hand-picked there e-mail addresses to send it to. I did the second article the same way. It was "An Intimate Relationship with God". It also got put in the same place. Same results. My third went to Travel. I don't know I'm sure I just didn't give it long enough, but patience is not one of my virtues. I'm hoping that my blog will start doing better also and gain some more followers. I just haven't figured out the "niche" yet, but I will. Well, I guess I'd better save this for now and get going. Off to the church to clean. I might add some more later, or just take notes for tomorrows blog. It will probably be an afternoon one or night, as I have a house to clean and this one takes me up into the late afternoon (3ish). I really enjoy doing it though. She is a very good friend and a joy to work for as well. Anyway, my blog will be later tomorrow. I'm not sure which I like doing more night or morning blogs. They both take me about the same amount of time, but at least at night my mind is working full throttle and I don't delete my whole post and have to start over again and another plus, is that y'all always know when it will be changed. With my day posts the time will be varied. I might just stick to the night ones and study my Bible in the afternoon after I get home from cleaning. We'll see how that goes. I'll get back to my normalsy tomorrow.

Have a great Day and May God Bless you and be with you in every thing you do.

Guidance

Good Evening to All!

First of all, I hope that y'all visited the link in the post below. I used it as a tribute for those in the military abroad and the soldiers and civilian who lost their lives and were injured in the
Ft. Hood shooting.

The Verse above according to the Amplified Version is stated like this:
Making known to us the mystery (secret) of His will(of His plan, of His purpose). [And it is this:] In accordance with His good pleasure (His merciful intention) which He had previously purposed and set forth in Him, (10)[He planned] for the maturity of the times and the climax of the ages to unify all things and head them up and consummate them in Christ, [both] things in heaven and things on the earth.

Tomorrow's (11:00 pm--11:00pm)

1 Timothy 2 (NIV)
Instructions on Worship

1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
The Amplified Version states these verses as such: First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men, (2) For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.
************************************************************************
************************************************************************

I always knew prayer was important, and that God answered prayers, but I didn't know the magnitude of the importance of prayer in my life until I became filled with the Holy Ghost. This is as recent as the year 2000. I wish I had been approached a lot sooner about this new found guidance system. Since then, I have made it my mission in life to become closer and closer to God. To do this, I have had to get serious about my prayer life and my relationship with Him. He's not some intangible "being" that will send me to "Hades" if I'm not a good person. I can feel His presence when I "talk" to Him, I can hear His still small voice in my spirit guiding me in every thing I do and say, (if I heed His voice and not ignore it). Unfortunately, every once in a while I tend to want to do things my way, and make a mess of things. If I pray for guidance before I do anything, things tend to work out a lot better. I'm not saying that I'll get my way in all things, but things run a lot smoother and He helps me get through all the rough spots.

Next time you feel like your at your wit's end, ask the Holy Ghost to give you guidance and see how much smoother things go for you. speaking of wit's end, are you aware that this phrase is in the Bible? It is Psalm 107:27. I thought that was a neat little tidbit. I have read the Bible through several times, and never noticed it.
Right now, I am reading a book called Unexplainable by Don Cousins. It is an excellent book. He talks about putting into practice things which would help us to attain true happiness and contentment with "God behind the wheel." We all say at one time or another I wish God would do this, or give me that.. well, if we put things into practice like prayer, truly believing that He would do it, and other practices, things would begin to happen for the better. Some examples are : Rejoice in the Lord, Pray about everything, Celebrate Thanksgiving Every Day, embrace God's truth, and Practice these things. I tell you, if you can get this book, I highly recommend it. The above mentioned was Part One, Part Two is Unexplainable Success, Three is Unexplainable Significance, and part 4 is From Explainable to Unexplainable.
My hubby and I had to go to Temple yesterday for a VA appointment, and I started reading it on the way up there. I could hardly put it down. I have enjoyed it immensely.
I would imagine I'll be reading a lot more in the coming couple of weeks, as on the 17th of November, we're headed to Branson, and I'll be reading while hubby drives. I don't drive with him in the car, because he's too bad of a back-seat driver and makes me too nervous. I'm scared to death he'll cause me to have a wreck one day if I drive while he's in the car.
Well, my eyelids are getting so heavy I can hardly keep my eyes open, so I guess I'd better close for now.
Good Night All, and May God Bless!

Prayers, Thank you's and God's Word

Prayer is the languageImage by Lel4nd (busy) via Flickr

The above Verse of the Day according to the Amplified Version: For this same reason you pay taxes, for [the civil authorities] are official servants under God, devoting themselves to attending to this very service.

Good Evening to All!

My post has several facets tonight. First, I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Lynette for saving me all of her aluminum cans. She gave me a Very large bag, several medium bags and several small bags of cans. I collect these cans and sell them to create money to send to our "Foreign Missions at church. At this time, aluminum isn't going for much, so needless to say, it takes quite a lot of cans collected to make a difference. By donating cans to me, y'all are also helping to fund our Missionaries over seas, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks again Lynette.

Now for the next facet of this post. I would like to ask you all to say a little prayer for a gentleman by the name of Dr. Bill Calhoun. He is one of the sweetest people I know, and I am honored to know him. He is the 87 year old widower that I mentioned in my blog a while back who is the WWII Veteran who's WWII Website I linked to. He is very sharp-minded for his age and always has an interesting story to tell me while I'm cleaning his house. Anyway, he fell the other day and hurt his arm pretty bad. He didn't want to go to the doctor because he said he already has a VA appointment next week, but between his daughter and I we got him to go. I harped at him to go by telling him all the things that could go wrong, (it looked like he was losing the circulation in his arm as it was very discolored and swollen down to his knuckles, then his fingers mid-knuckles down were pure white. Anyway, his daughter made an appointment For him and he went. Luckily, I might add. When he got to the doctor, the doctor listened to his heart then all focus on his arm pretty much vanished and all was placed on his heart. Come to find out, his heart was skipping beats badly. As God would have it, the hospital had a visiting Cardiologist there today. Dr. Calhoun's doctor asked the Cardiologist to look at Dr. Calhoun, and after a battery of EKGs, and so forth, it was determined that Dr. Calhoun would need a pacemaker implanted into his heart. Now if it were a younger person, it wouldn't bother me so much, but at his age, any kind of surgery is dangerous. So please keep Dr. Calhoun in your prayers. I appreciate this very much.

Daily Inspirations from the NIV (Devotional)

The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Romans 14:17-19

The Amplified Version says it this way: (17) [After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
(18)he who serves Christ in this way is acceptable and pleasing to God and is approved by men.
(19) So let us then definitely aim for and eagerly pursue what makes for harmony and for mutual upbuilding (edification and development) of one another. Romans 14:17-19

We ought always to think God for you,l brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
2 Thessalonians 1:3

Long to Worship You

The Amplified Version says it this way: We ought and indeed are obligated [as those in debt] to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing exceedingly and the love of every one of you each toward the others is increasing and abounds.
2 Thessalonians 1:3

Each of us will give an account of himself to God....Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. Romans 14:12-13

The Amplified Version says it this way: (12) And so each of us shall give an account of himself [give an answer in reference to judgment] to God. (13) Then let us no more criticize and blame and pass judgment on one another, but rather decide and endeavor never to put a stumbling block or an obstacle or a hindrance in the way of a brother. Romans 14:12-13

Wisdom and Prayers

I chose this picture because the lighthouse is a symbol of guidance, and it takes God's wisdom to guide us in our daily lives.

Daily Inspirations from the NIV

Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or swerve from them.
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
love her and she will watch over you.
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding. .

Esteem her, and she will exalt you;
embrace her and she will honor you.
She will set a garland of grace on your head
and present you with a crown of splendor.

Proverbs 4:5-9

Good Evening Everyone!

Today was another run of the mill day. I started out by going to "Curves" to do my work-out. The owner is a really sweet lady. She gave me a Christian CD of her church group singing. and its really good. Speaking of CD's Curves has some really neat exercise CD's. Have you ever tried to work out to Amazing Grace at 140 beats per minute? It is awesome. More songs are Victory in Jesus, Shine Jesus Shine, and many others. They sound so cool! Nothing like worship and praising God while you're getting a really good work out.

I don't know how many of you keep up with my Prayer Line, but for those that do, I have a praise report. Alfred Evans had surgery done on his head for skin cancer. He went back today for his follow-up and all is clean and clear. I am so pleased. GOD IS GREAT!
On a sadder note, Henry Seagraves is undergoing some very tough chemo for his cancer. The chemo makes him sick so they gave him shots to help ease his sickness. The only thing is, they are up to giving him 2 shots for it, and the shots are doing no good. They are of no help. This man is my sister-in-law's cousin. I am asking a special plea that you will pray that God's will be done for him. Sometimes, I have found out that after so long, and so much suffering, it is better to pray for God's will to be done. This way, either they will be healed, or God will take them home. I don't mean to sound callous by any means, it's just that sometimes prolonging their stay and asking for healing is for our benefit, not the precious soul that is ill. I am definitely NOT advocating not praying for healing. I pray every day for the people on my prayerline to be healed. It's just sometimes you can see the end of the line. You can see in their eyes that they are tired of fighting, and just want to go "home". Unless, I am told otherwise though, I pray for healing. We have a merciful God and He will heal. The thing is, I have never read in His Word anything about all His healing will be done on earth. I know a lot of it is, I have seen and felt crooked backs straighten, cancer cured, ulcers healed just all kinds of healings so I know He does heal while we are here on earth, but not exclusively. Sometimes, He takes them home to heal them. Anyway, thank you for helping me pray. I know our prayers have help several people on the list already. Little Max and Collin both were healed. Mr Evans was healed and I know there have been others. My memory is just too short. I always joke with people and tell them "if I had a memory, it would be a short one."

Starting Monday, I hope to be participating in R House's Matching Mondays. I saw it on Yaya's blog, and asked her how to become a part of it. Anyway, I'm looking forward to that. I am also wanting to check into doing something with the SPCA. I love children and animals, and have neither, (well, I guess I can't really say no animals.) Even though I don't consider them pets we have a menagerie of cats that hang around. I don't consider them ours though. They're here for the mice and snakes (we live sort of in the country). Although, my husband feeds them too much, so the only thing they hunt for is the front door. Anyway, I would like to do something for both organizations.
Aren't these pictures adorable? If this hen can protect this puppy, why is it so hard for humans to protect one another no matter what race, color or creed?
Well, it's getting close to the "witching hour" and I don't want to turn into a pumpkin, so I guess I'd better go for now.

Good Night and May God Bless!

Preventative Measures

Sun Bible!Image by Denis Collette...!!! via Flickr

Good Evening to All!

I read the above verse, and didn't quite catch it, so I decided to illiterate by typing the same verse according to the Amplified Bible. I am going to type the verse which comes before it also so that the context will be shown.

(17) [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets]in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,

(18)By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones).

Inspirations from the NIV

None of us live to ourselves alone...we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:7-8

Live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 1 Peter 3:8

The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3:17-18

PSP ( Public Service Post) Two-Way Mirrors

I was hoping I might find a picture of some sort to go along with this part of the post, but I checked on line, and just by looking you cannot tell one mirror from another. I also noticed that where I was looking for a mirror photo, they had an article similar to this one, and the author of the article (Mr. Kohler) said that the "fingernail test" definitely works. My problem would be I don't have fingernails (I bite mine). Maybe this should be an incentive for me to quit biting them. NOT! I've done it for 55 years, I doubt if I'll ever stop. Anyway, be reassured that the test works. Gals, start using it! Perverts are getting more and more common.

I know many of you have probably seen this, but in my estimation, I would be remiss in not following my feelings and putting this up for public review. As I have said in the other PSP's (public service post) I have typed up, if this saves even one person from being a "victim", then I feel like it (this post) accomplished what I have intended.

A Mirror or a 2-Way Glass?
How can you tell when you are in a room, restroom, motel etc. with a mirror or a 2-way glass? Here's how: I thought it was quite interesting! And I know in about 30 seconds you're going to do what I did and find the nearest mirror. Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or not? A policewoman who travels all over the US and gives seminars and techniques for businesswomen passed this on.
When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (i..e., they can see you, but you can't see them)? There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by looking at it.
So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at? Just conduct this simple test: Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE! IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!
"No Space, Leave the Place" So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything.
REMEMBER. No Space, Leave the Place:
Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters, daughters, etc.
Men: Share this with your wives, daughters, daughters-in-law, mothers, girlfriends and/or friends.

Another interesting thing I ran across while looking for a picture , was a complete glass bathroom. I mean Everything was made of glass, even the bathroom door! Not only the shower door, the bathroom door going into the other room. I wonder what they hope to gain from having a glass door. It's not like people couldn't see through it. I wasn't frosted or anything. Strange.

Guess I'll close this out and go check on my laundry so I can get to bed. I hope y'all remembered to set your clocks back so you wouldn't be late for church. By the way, just in case you think it strange, I sometimes start my posts early in the evening or afternoon, and save it hoping to find something else of interest to add to it. If I don't do it this way, I tend to forget by the time I get around to typing my whole post. It's not that it takes me 5 or 6 hours to write the post. Haha! I'm slow, but not quite that slow. See ya tomorrow.

Good Night All and May God Bless.

Intercession for Children and their Families

Children in a doorway in JerusalemImage via Wikipedia

Good Evening Everyone!

I was planning to start out tonight with a reiteration of the above scripture in the Amplified Version, but when I turned to it and started reading, my eyes fell upon the verse above it,
I Peter 5:7. This verse seems more appropriate for what I would like to speak on for a little bit.

It reads: Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

At the end of this verse the verse it refers back to is Psalm 55:22, which says Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).

It is talking about ALL CARES, but I have a specific thing in mind for tonight.

I have been getting quite a few requests for additions to my Prayer Line recently, and also have been referred to other blogs in which there are precious children's health at stake.

Now I will appeal to you. Please take a look at my Prayer Line on the sidebar and say a little prayer for these precious people in need of our prayers. If you do have time for mentioning each one a "blanket prayer for healing and intervention would be welcomed and just as suredly heard. (I'm not sure that's a word, but what I mean is whether you say a prayer for each person, or a prayer for the "group" of people God will hear them and will act on them the same.

If you will take a look on the left side down a little ways, you will see a button which says Prayers for Stellan. Please click that button and read his story.

Also, The Phillips Family, (that's the name of their blog.) it is listed like that but I don't have the web address for it. The boys' names are Jaycen and Nathan. They are about 4 months old and are having a lot of health issues and are having to stay in the hospital. I wish I could tell you their blog address, but I couldn't find it. I looked up The Phillips Family on the web, but couldn't find a web address for them. It is a blue blog with white polka dots. At this point please just keep Jaycen and Nathan and their family in your prayers. I will try and get a blog address and let you know what it is.

There are just so many baby's with critical health issues that it's overwhelming. I cannot imagine the pain, worry and stress these families are going through, so all I can do is offer myself for continuous intercessory prayer. I could quote scripture and remind you that "worry is not of God", that we are not suppose to worry, but to cast all our cares upon Him, but I also have enough common sense to know that when it is "your" child that is going through this, it's a different story. All I can say is "Keep the Faith" one day at a time, and God will see you through "one day at a time." Also, keep in mind all of the prayers going up for each and every family with children in need. I know God hears all prayers. I also believe there is strength in numbers, so as prayers go up, the glory and blessings rain down upon each and every child and family being prayed for. I thank you for your time spent in prayer for these precious children and their families.

I wish I knew how to turn my comments off for this post. I have seen others do it, but I'm not sure. I would like for you to spend the few minutes that you would spend typing a comment on prayer for these children and their families. As I said, I know of Stellan, Jaycen, and Nathan, Seth, and many others which unfortunately I cannot remember all of their names, but please send up prayers for healing and strength.

Good night all and May God Bless!

Good Evening to All!

Hope this finds everyone happy, healthy and wise! Before I forget, I wanted to let you know that Collin, the little 6 month old baby with swine flu on the prayer list is well again. A prayer is answered. Also, Max a young boy who the doctor said had a 90% chance of having H1N1, is feeling much better. Another prayer answered. I am so thankful for a God that heals at the lifting up of a name, and a prayer. He is an awesome God! As the praise reports come in, I will let you know what they are. Praise the Lord He is the Great Physician!

My day started off at "Curves" as usual, then I spent some time with my "best friend" and came home. After doing some mundane chores, I spent the majority of the day on the computer, reading blogs and e-mails. I did get a pleasant surprise, however. I got on Facebook for a little bit and who should I see on their but my sister's sister-in-law and nieces. I haven't seen them since I was a kid in my teens. I'm really beginning to enjoy Facebook. It sure beats writing lette rs, too. I am definitely not a letter writer. I can type all day, but I hate to write. Anyway, after that, I found out my nephew is also on there, so we're just making it a "family affair." This is so great!

Daily Inspirations from the NIV

Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Cor. 5:2-5

I opened my book, and this verse popped out at me. I felt the need to use it because it is exactly the way I feel. I am so ready for Christ to come back. I know that may sound strange to some and silly to others, but I am. I am really tired of this world the way it is, and it's sure not going to get any better. I can't count the times I looked up to the heavens and said, "ok, Lord, I'm ready when you are." "Anytime....." And before you get it into your head, no, I'm not suicidal. If I go, it will be because it's my time to go with God's blessing and not by my own hand. I have this attitude because I am ready, I really don't feel like I belong here anymore, and I don't have any kids to worry about. I hope that doesn't make me sound odd, or morbid, it just the way I feel. I'm ready for that heavenly dwelling that Paul speaks about where no more arthritis, or back pains or sickness, or anything but happiness, praise and worship exists.

"But Jesus asked him, 'Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?'" Luke 22:48

Probably nothing shocks us more than betrayal. Why? Because in order for the incident to be labeled betrayal, it mus involve someone close to us.

We expect strangers not to care and possibly to treat us badly. But not close friends! That's why we call them "friends." We depend on and confide in our friends, putting them in the very position to be able to betray us if things go awry. When betrayal does happen--an indiscreetly shared secret, a stolen idea, a confidential comment disclosed--our reaction often "betrays" how much unlike Christ we actually are.

Jesus was betrayed boy one of his closest associates, arrested, and taken by an angry crowd to an illegal trial. The strangest part about the whole thing was how calm Jesus was. Even though the situation looked bad, Jesus knew who he was and why he had come. Jesus stayed focused on his mission--to love sinners.

To me, this says a lot. It tells me that no matter what, we need to keep our minds and eyes on our mission which is to strive to be more Christ-like and concentrate on living for God, doing what He tells us to do in His Word. To love our neighbors, to treat people as He treated people when He walked this earth. To show our love for Him by showing love and compassion for others. I can't remember the exact scripture, but I'm thinking of the scripture that says something about "when He hungered we fed Him, when He thirsted, we gave Him drink, when He was naked we clothed Him... and it went on, naming things which was done for Him, then the people He was talking to said they didn't remember doing those things and He said "when you did it (or do it) for the least of these, you did it for me. Now, I know that's not word for word of course, and in the interest of time, I won't stop to look it up, but I'm sure someone can probably quote that verse word for word. I wish I could. Anyway, back to the main thought, that's what God expects us to do. This one little verse or couple, says an awful lot.

Dig Deeper:

The Greek word for "betray" comes from two words--para meaning near, nearby, the relation of immediate vicinity or proximity and didomi, to give. Only someone nearby can give the hurt of betrayal.

In the same way, when we know who we are in Christ, there's no reason to collapse or seek revenge when things go wrong in our relationships. sure, we feel angry. But we can control our behavior and stay clam. We can focus our mind on being like Christ.

God has called us to become new. He wants our reactions to become like his own. Ephesians 4:23-24 says, "be made new in the attitude of your minds; and...put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Even if friends betray us, we can respond righteously because we know who we are in Christ.

AgricultureWeed & Water:

Recognizing we live in a sinful world should help us have thicker skin if wefeel betrayed. Like Jesus, we can say, "Father, forgive them." Ok, it's hard, but letting it go, placing our hurt in the hands of Jesus, will bring freedom and peace into our lives. Recognizing how we feel when we are betrayed should also help ;us steer clear of serving up this hurt to others. Finally, if we say we are Christians but our actions are the same as nonbelievers, we too are guilty of betraying Christ with a kiss.

Think About It:

Prayer Pot:

What was Jesus' reaction when He was betrayed?

What was your reaction when you were betrayed?

How can you make things right with the person whom you have betrayed?

Lord, help me to forgive the betrayal of .....

*God's love is never accompanied by betrayal.

I know that this is a lot to read, and a lot to take in, but if just a seed or two takes root, then it is all worth it. When I see something with this much print and very few pictures, it makes me nervous, and I skim rather than read, unless it's the Bible. At the same time, even skimming can cause a seed to be planted and take root.

The Compassion of God

crucifiction reenactment weston wvImage by rmcgervey via Flickr

This picture depicts the ultimate act of compassion for His children.

Good Evening One and All!

Daily inspiration from the NIV

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear [show reverence, worship and awe] (Amplified version); Him, for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:13-14

This verse means a lot to me, because my Father is telling me that just as earthly fathers (under normal circumstances) show compassion for their children, He shows compassion for those of us who show Him reverence, respect, worship and awe. In other words the respect that He alone deserves. (respect is my word I did not get it from any Bible). He remembers that we are just dust, and that we will make mistakes, so He will give us His forgiveness for our transgressions and mistakes as long as we ask for it and repent.

If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So it is written: The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam a life-giving spirit. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that, the spiritual. The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven,so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:44-49

According to the Amplified Version, the first Adam became a living being (individual personality); the last Adam (being Christ) a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life]. Speaking of those who are made of the dust are (earthly minded) and as the man from heaven (heavenly minded). Just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven. Please take note that the 1st man was not capitalized, the 2nd is .

Please give me the liberty of quoting one more verse which I just noticed as I was typing. I think this is very important. (50) but I tell you this, brethren, flesh and blood cannot [become partakers of eternal salvation and] inherit or share in the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable (that which is decaying) inherit or share in the imperishable (the immortal). This came from the Amplified Bible. I hope this little Devotional spoke to y'all as much as it did to me. It reminded me of the compassion which God has for me, and therefore the compassion which I should show to others. Too many times have I overlooked or made excuses why not to give food, or money to those who need it. Too many times have I said to myself, I don't have time to talk to this person. Too many times have I said to myself, I need this money for gas next week, ( forgetting that God is my provider in the first place.) It makes me feel so small and ashamed of myself when I think on these things.

God, Please bring to my remembrance your compassion, when someone comes to me for help, or when I see someone in need of my help. Lord, nudge me a little harder each time I start making excuses. I want to be the man (woman) of heaven. Help me to dwell on heavenly actions and heavenly thoughts. Let my heart continually be looking upward until the day You come back. Help me to be ready for your return. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

Now for the earthly side of things. Today was a pretty good day excluding the dreary weather. For some reason, it really has a bad effect on me mood-wise. I spent about 31/2 hours looking up blogs, and commenting. About 11:30 am I decided it had quit raining enough to go to Curves and work-out. I don't miss unless I have to because I'm afraid if I start missing then I start making excuses not to go, and that's not gonna happen. Anyway, I got back home about 12:30 and got back on my computer again, and with the exception of about 2 hours, I've been on it ever since. As I told some of you when I was commenting, satellites are not good in overcast or bad weather. It takes forever for anything to load, if it loads at all.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be better and I can read more blogs and comment more, as I don't have any houses to clean this week. I will have more time to devote to my blog and reading. I also need to get busy and finish reading Nessa's http://www.txhousewife.com/ books that she loaned me. It seems every time I start to settle in and read, something else comes up.

My eyes are beginning to do funny things, so I guess I will let y'all give your's a rest and close for the night.

Prayer Changes Everything

"Prayer Changes Everything Ideas and Notations for Inspired Prayer Time"

The above quotation is the title of a little book which was given to me by a precious lady in my church several years ago, I have read it many times. It is full of so many good ways to fit God into your day without even realizing after a while. It becomes a lifestyle just as "eating right" or "exercising." Granted at first it takes planning and thought, because it is not of the ordinary routine things that you might do, but after a while it does become part of your routine and if you forget or don't have time to add Him to your curriculum you will definitely miss Him.

WALK WITH THE SPIRIT

"Since we live by the Spirit let us keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:25
Even in the midst of our busyness, we have opportunities to "keep in step with the Spirit." We can make choices which keep which keep us on that path, in the way we act and react to each situation we encounter. We can choose to handle each situation with those qualities Galatians describes as the fruits of the Spirit:
love, joy,
peace,
patience, gentleness,
goodness,
faith, meekness, and temperance.

Picture yourself walking in the Spirit today. think about how that feels and how it changes your perspective. Feel His arms around you. Admit your struggles to keep walking in the faith. Ask for Help. Ask for reminders of His love. Seek the blessing in all that you have to do. See the good. Believe that the Spirit of God rests within, around and because of you.
Today was a really neat day. We had an excellent Sunday School lesson about Faith Scripture text Luke 18:1-8. He was talking to the Pharisees and He said to them in verse 8, I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Then our Worship Service was also very good. Brother Hardin spoke on How the devil has been stealing, and destroying everything from the time of Adam and Eve. He stole our innocence. We were originally intended to live in the garden with God forever, but the devil stole that away from us by deceiving Eve. He took away our peaceful existence. He caused jealousy to come upon Cain so that he would murder Able, and he is ultimately the cause of the decline of the human race. Anyway, I didn't mean to give a sermon, I just thoroughly enjoyed the message. One last thing and I will change the subject. Just remember, the devil really enjoys it when he can cause strife, disruption, grumbling, complaining and arguing to name just a few things.
Later on this afternoon, we had a birthday party for one of the precious ladies of our congregation. She turned 95 years old and is just as sharp as a tack. Happy Birthday, Grace! Hope you'll be around for many more. I was going to put a picture of her birthday cake on here, but she and another lady were in the picture and I never put up photos of people without asking them first. I checked on the internet just for a picture of a "sheet" birthday cake, but they only had kid's birthday cakes. Besides that my silly computer is extra slooooow tonight because of bad weather. We have Hughesnet satellite, and it's just like the TV. It keeps losing its signal, so it takes for ever to connect to the internet. That is so strange. I do spell checks on all of my posts. I can't for the life of me figure out why TV is supposed to be capitalized. It is a title of anything or name. Go figure.
I think I'll go ahead and close for tonight as I don't think this storm is going to let up and I don't want to be up at 1:00am typing.
Good Night and May God Bless.
